curiouswombat: (suitable job for a lady)
Whilst there has been very little fic here, on my journal, over the past few months I have been busy writing and revising.

As the two stories involved have now both been posted in other places I thought it was time to put links here.

Some of my friends might remember, back about five years, that my first major piece of fic was in the Buffyverse and was called 'Ten Years After'. It looked at Dawn, ten years after the events in 'Chosen', the last episode of the original Buffy Series.

After having posted 'Returnverse' stories at 'Twisting the Hellmouth' I was entitled to post some non-cross-over stuff. And so I went back to Ten Years After and read it again; not bad, really.

I have revised it, tidied it up a bit to make it actually read better without changing the story, and have now finished posting it. So, if you would like to reacquaint yourself with 'Ten Years After', or read it for the first time, the whole story is posted HERE

It is rated as 18 at TtH, is 72,500 or so words long, in 22 chapters - with the following summary;

It is 2013, and Dawn is beginning to realise that she is not, as her sister insists, a 'totally normal young woman'. This story is, mainly, about 27 year old Dawn coming to terms with an unexpected future.

It is categorised there as 'romance, Spike/Dawn - but remember - this is grown-up Dawn, not teenaged Dawn!

..........................................

For those not interested in Buffyverse stories, or in rereading TYA, I have been writing properly at the same time - a nine chapter story in the 'Returnverse', set during Haldirin's childhood.

This time it was for [livejournal.com profile] plot_wout_porn - where there are some excellent fics being posted, by the way...

Uh - yes - so - the story is called In The Winter Garden, it features Tindómë, Rumil, Haldirin along with middle-aged Éowyn, Legolas and... well you'll have to read to find out the 'and'!

The entire story is only a touch over 20,000 words and chapter one is HERE. If I've remembered, each chapter should have a link to the next one. And there is really no porn (sorry if you are a porn addict...!), and so is rated a 13.

It's been another nice day here - dry, temperature about 66-68F, 18 - 19C, sun shining on and off - that's a whole week of more or less summer. Been good drying weather - I've been busy washing the bathroom mats, cushion covers, all sorts!

D-d is due back from the Leeds Music Festival tonight - I just got a text to say she was safely on the boat, and as it isn't very windy I'm expecting it to make good time, so she'll need picking up about 9.45. This is the first music festival she has ever been at where she hasn't needed her wellies!

apart from all the washing, and a bit of baking, I've finished the next chapter of Access All Areas - it is beneath the cut.

Chapter 15, word count 2,750, chapter is PG, story is NC17.

The last chapter ended Buffy has been in touch and she thinks that the Bringers may be abroad......

Chapter 15 )
curiouswombat: (Access all Areas)
Woah! Two posts from me in an hour - probably something of a record! S2C and I have finally got our relevant bits of the next chapter of Access All Areas spliced together neatly - we were a bit at cross purposes with the timing for a little while, but have it sorted now!

So - Chapter 14 of Access All Areas by [livejournal.com profile] curiouswombat and [livejournal.com profile] speakr2customrs,

3,520 words, PG - story rated overall NC17.

is under this cut! )

Previous chapters are - in memories.

Feedback is much better than chocolate - save us from calories!
curiouswombat: (Access all Areas)
It's taken a while to get this chapter of the story being jointly written by [livejournal.com profile] speakr2customrs and myself, visits from Daughter-dear and friend, the TT, all sorts of things, have slowed progress slightly, but we are happy with this now.

So -
Access All Areas Chapter 13
3,900 words
Overall story rating is NC17 - but this chapter is about a PG for language only.
Previous chapters are Here.

Chapter 13 starts here )

Feedback is, as always, much appreciated.

This is one of those bitty posts.

Firstly I am off to England for a week, and I'm not taking the laptop so I will mostly be off-line. Although I do have the number for the LJ voice-post, so if I get withdrawal symptoms....

I am sailing on the first fastcraft out tomorrow - and with my normal impeccable timing it looks as if it might be the roughest sea for weeks! However, all being well I will arrive in Liverpool, get a train to Manchester, and be all signed in for the Association for Continence Advice conference by lunch time.

My dear friend D. from Skye has been in London, and is driving back on Wednesday and Thursday - so she is breaking her journey in Manchester so that we can met up for Wednesday night, and then on Thursday morning I go on to York for a few days to meet up with Daughter-dear. So - busy week, and I'll be back on Sunday night.

But before I go - S2C had picked up a meme in which you run any of your pieces of writing through the 'autosummarise' function on Word, choose the 100 word or less option - and hey presto - drabble containing the essence of the story.

Under the cut are a couple of mine! )
But doing that reminded me that I have a lot of friends that will probably never have seen my first two tiny, mad, cross-over fics because my FList was much smaller then!

These might make a little more sense to UK friends - because I have written what I believe to be the only two BtVS-Bagpuss crossovers!

For anyone who wants to read but doesn't know Bagpuss - it is a very famous children's series of the 1970s, which always started in exactly the same words...

Mid-day at the Lost and Found was the first - about 500 words - and as 'G' rated as it is possible to be!

And the follow-up - Once More With Bagpuss which was a touch longer.

I must point out that they contain absolutely no spoilers for anything!!
curiouswombat: (Access all Areas)
It has been a busy day at work, I have been running a study day for care workers, and teaching tires me more that clinics, home visits and admin does! I came home with a headache and a lack of enthusiasm for cooking.

So after a discussion in [livejournal.com profile] petzipellepingo's journal about proper fish and chips, we both decided that is exactly what we wanted for our dinner. So I am now well stuffed!

We have finished the next chapter of Access All Areas -

Chapter 12.
Words: 4636
Rating PG
Writtn by Curiouswombat & Speaker-to-Customers.
Previous chapters are here.

In which our hero comes face to face with a Slayer and a big stake.... )

Feed-back is much appreciated by both [livejournal.com profile] speakr2customrs and myself!

This will probably be the last chapter for a couple of weeks - I am away next week, a conference in Manchester and a couple of days visiting my daughter in York.
curiouswombat: (Access all Areas)
Firstly, thank you for all the nice wishes for our wedding anniversary, and especially to Kathleen for the roses.

S2C has just finished checking out my punctuation in the next chapter of Access All Areas, and so without further ado -

Access All Areas. Chapter 11.
4,300 words. NC17.

Is under here. )

Feedback is much appreciated - it is very low in carbs and calories - which is a very good thing just at the moment!

Previous chapters are in Memories.

ETA - anyone who doesn't recognise the Marvin Gaye track in question - Petzi has put a link to it in her comment below.

I have a cold. I have a nose like Peter Schmeichel - or for my non-European friends I look like Rudolph. I feel rather bleugh. But I have been out for a very nice lunch with my Mum and my daughter, and S2C and I have both finished our respective sections of Access All Areas, so not as bad a day as it could have been!

Under the cut is
Access All Areas, Chapter 10.
4,300 words.
This chapter is not NC17, but the story as a whole is.

Chapter rated R, but over-all NC17.
Spike & Dawn.

Chapter Nine - in which Spike has his 'Meatloaf' moment... )

Feed-back is gratefully appreciated - who am I kidding? Craved is a better word!

In other news, I am watching a very odd TV programme about breeding programmes for endangered species - imagine being an expert at persuading elephants to ejaculate into condoms!

Also - Daughter-dear is in Berlin this week, with a group of other history students - I am hoping for photos!
curiouswombat: (TYA by Tales)
I've been writing hard over the weekend, as has [livejournal.com profile] speakr2customrs, and we have finished a very long chapter of Access All Areas.

Apart from writing, I was looking for something on the hard-drive of my old, dead, computer, which I have as an external drive - and I found this lovely icon, made for me by [livejournal.com profile] talesofspike presumably more or less on the day the old computer died, as I hadn't yet put it onto LJ, and had 'lost' it. My apologies to Tales for taking so long to use it - but isn't it lovely, and just right for this fic.

So -
Access All Areas, Chapter 8
5,900 words
Rated 15 (or NC17 depending on your local system)

Is under this cut )

Woah! We are cooking on gas at the moment, as the old British Gas adverts used to say!

Actually I was cooking on a halogen hob - pancakes stuffed with salmon and dill make a good first course, and pancakes with mincemeat (sweet-mince) are a very good idea too!

Anyway - back to the speed at which S2C and I are getting on with getting 'Access All Areas' written down at the moment - two chapters in five days is pretty good for us, eh?

Chapter 6 in which everyone, except our hero, gets closer to that which they seek...
Word count - 2,500
Rating - R for language.

Feed back is not only gratefully received, it is as manna from heaven - feed us, feed us, and make us feel happy!

Well, I'm sorry it has taken so long, but under the cut is the next Chapter of the joint effort between [livejournal.com profile] speakr2customrs and me.

This chapter is 3,500 words long, and contains little of a sexual or violent nature - so a G, I guess.

Usual disclaimer, as at the end of the chapter applies,

Access All Areas, Chapter Four. )
curiouswombat: (Access all Areas)
Below the cut is Chapter 3 of Access All Areas, the sequel to 'Ten Years After'.

I would like to dedicate this story to the late [livejournal.com profile] nandibble, a much respected writer of both fanfic and published works. At the end of 'Ten Years After' she finished her comment with - If (as I hope) you continue this tale, please give some thought to throwing some powerful opposition into the mix to avoid blandness.

I thought hard about this, before finally getting ''Access All Areas' together, and I would like to think that by the end of this chapter she would feel that I had taken her advice.

I must again acknowledge the co-writing skills of my husband [livejournal.com profile] speakr2customrs who, in role-play gaming speak, is currently running Ethan and The Ferret.

Chapter 3 - PG - words - 2345(honestly!)

Access All Areas, Chapter Three )

Beneath the cut is Chapter 2 of the follow up to Ten Years After - 'Access All Areas'.

Chapter 1 is here

This chapter is 1,720 words long
Warning - this chapter contains scenes of a sexual nature! So a 15 or so, I reckon.

Access All Areas )
I weighed myself today and the weight is sadly creeping up - and the more I write the less I eat!
So feed back is as manna from heaven - even if it is just a quick wave - it encourages me to get on with the next chapter, and might stop me outgrowing my clothes!
curiouswombat: (written)
This is a fan-fic related post in it's entirety - if you are one of my friends who is not interested in Buffy fanfic you can happily move on without clicking on the cuts!

I won another nice pretty over at the Fang Fetish awards for ‘Ten Years After’.

”Pretty )

To celebrate I have decided to let the sequel escape out into the world!

The sequel, previously under the working title TYA2 now has a name – So under the cut you will find the introduction, prologue and Chapter 1 of ‘Access All Areas’.

This is not 100% my work – it is written with small inserts by [livejournal.com profile] speakr2customrs using a system which has worked well for us before – for example in e-mail from America. So in ‘Access All Areas’ he ‘plays’ the baddies, I ‘play’ the rest of the cast to start with, so which bits are his should be fairly clear!

This part is

(a)suitable for all ages, (but it quickly won’t be – so if you only read ‘unrestricted’ don’t start!!)
(b)2000words long or so.
(c)pairs an adult Spike with an adult Dawn.

Access All Areas )
curiouswombat: (CatHaiku7)
I have been very remiss, I haven't posted anything to my journal for a week. One reason is that I haven't been doing anything very note-worthy, but the main one is that I am in a constant battle for my computer with the cat. He is determined to either lie across my lap between my chest and the lap-top, or across the front of the lap-top, or beside me on the settee, resting his head on the right hand side of the keyboard and/or the wireless receiver for my mouse.

None of these options are conducive to me being able to write much coherently, and so I opt for either just reading things, or not using the lap-top except when the cat goes out to pee! Currently he has been sitting on the window sill, and has just noticed that I have left a brand new suede bag on the other end of the settee, and has decided sleeping on it might be even more fun than sleeping on the laptop! And in relief I am letting him. (For those who like to know these things, it is a good big size, in a nice autumnal red with black leather trim.)

So - I have spent some time this afternoon up-loading 'Ten Years After' to a new archive site -
Just Rewards at the invitation of Athenewolfe (Of the Fang Fettish Awards) who is maintaining it. It is a site only for award winning fics - so well worth a visit, because even if you don't always agree with exactly which fic wins which award, the one thing you can be pretty sure of is that award winning fics are usually without too many typos, and with punctuation!

Something else I have been meaning to do is to copy my friend [livejournal.com profile] beckyzoole who puts up a weekly list of Reasons to be Grateful, which I think is a really good idea. So here is my list of reasons to be grateful this week:

I have a husband I love, who loves me, and we both know this even if we bicker!

I have a beautiful daughter, who is settling into her new life at university well, and who voluntarily rings home sometimes.

I have a mother whose 80th birthday party my sister and I are arranging for January - and she is in good enough health that we know she will likely be around to celebrate!

I can afford to eat enough that I am obese when so many others in the world are undernourished.

I have a laptop computer to keep me in touch with all of my friends around the world.

I have a new red handbag which is keeping the cat occupied.

Today has been a gloriously crisp autumn day, with leaves on the ground to scrunch.

I bought some Whittards "Winter Warmer" coffee and it is wonderfully soothing.

Isn't it nice to have so many things to be grateful for?
curiouswombat: (Ten Years After1 flame81)
I feel quite guilty sometimes, when I get acknowledgments for 'Ten Years After', as I have done so little by way of fanfic writing, but still get lovely awards for it! S2C put my nice pretty for Runner Up in the 'Best Completed Fic' category of Round Three of The Fang Fetish Awardsonto the story at The Wombatzone", and it has now been nominated for round four as Best M/F Fic. (Thank you Steph.) There are some really good things at the Fang Fetish Awards - go and look -

There is a story for the follow-up - I really will start to write it down over the rest of the summer!
curiouswombat: (Default)
Today I have a day of Annual Leave with nothing exciting planned to do in it. I have taken D-d to her school to sit her most feared exams, German Comprehension and Aural, and to cheer her up I have just put some of her favourite Strawberry Cheesecake Muffins in the oven. She can take one to work on her first day in the temping job tomorrow, to have with her lunch.

Also now that I have got all the missing mail, I must say a big thank you to people who have nominated me for awards -

Ten Years after has been nominated at both The Fang Fetish Awards

and also at The Lie to Me Awards.

Not too sure how to do the neat link between button and site, hence the link beside the pretty buttons! But don't let my inability to make it very, very neat stop you going and looking - there is some very good stuff on both sites.

Also D-d has finally found a pair of suitable shoes to wear with her Prom Dress, and I have now pinned the four layers of skirt up to the right length - so I'll be sewing, and sewing, and sewing for an evening or two.

And I have decided I will send another letter saying I am still not totally satisfied with the replies I have had about the way the LJ TOSsers keep changing the rules without telling us, and ending up with bloody stupid rules and definitions as a consequence.
