When I finished the 365 project I commented that one picture had been viewed many times more than any other - under the cut I'll show you which one - I'm fairly sure that you won't be able to guess in a month of Sundays!

Also, I have been trying to work out which is my favourite - and I really find it difficult - finally I have worked out my top three.

In no particular order my three favourites are ;( these ones )

Although I don't necessarily think they are the best technically.

But - the one that has had the most views by far? Like 103 views which is more than 70 views more than any other? Any guesses?

It's( this one.... )

Probably if you asked me tomorrow I'd choose different ones as my favourites!

If you have a favourite amongst the 365 pics, or just one that sticks in your memory, do say - I would be interested to know. If you want to be reminded, for any reason, there is a link in my sidebar to my Flickr stream!
curiouswombat: (Yay)
This is it! The final week of photos. Not that I will give up photo-spamming you all - but there will not necessarily be seven pictures taken on seven seperate days every week. I will try to mostly do a picture post on a Sunday, though - I have got used to it, and I find that carrying the camera has become second nature.

I think my 'eye' has improved over the year - later pictures are, perhaps, better on average than the first ones.

Someone asked if I intended to finish with a bang - but no - it was not a terrible exciting week; even snow has stopped being exciting this winter!

So this week's pictures ( include flowers, trees, and the sea - a fairly typical set! )

So there we are - 365 pictures all on my Flickr account. It has been a fascinating project, even on the days when I have been desperate for a picture and you have shared my dinner, or had a picture of a sleeping cat!

I must post sometime about the statistics for these pictures at Flickr - one picture has been looked at over 100 times, and I think I can almost guarantee that no-one will be able to guess which one without looking at those stats.

So - now to log-out of Flickr, and then go back to The Winter Tale. Hopefully the chapter will be readable by mid-week!

It has been a week of mixed emotions and mixed weather, of family and work.

The pictures this week include house-builders and a lion, but seem to be a bit heavy on avians. Also something of interest to my friends who knit.

I have been off work this week, as has S2C - so we have actually had some time together. This does not appear to be immediately reflected in the pictures!

So this week we have ( technology, chocolate and rocks... )

S2C is now busy sorting out his new, shiny, computer... this all began with my suggestion that he buy a new chair last Sunday... then he thought a new desk would be good, and if he didn't have to have the printer under his feet he would have a wider choice of desks...

Then when we went to look for a wireless printer he thought upgrading his graphics card would be a good idea, except that he couldn't with his current computer...

The one thing that hasn't been replaced is... the desk. We can't find one that fits the space, is the right height, and has room for the mouse on the keyboard shelf. :~(

Oh - and we both bought each other chocolates for Valentine's day - and the two boxes are almost identical!

Slightly delayed by our internet being non-functional over the weekend, here are the pictures for last week.

It was a calm week, weather-wise - the two pictures with the sea in are very calm and tranquil; ( this week we include rabbits, a silver trout and a husband... )

I have to say it is nice to be back online - and even better is that we are both off work this week and can do some things together. So far today this has been a trip to our own local CAS with the old chair and the packaging from the new one, stopping at the computer shop (him) and Tescos (me) on the way back - you can't say that we don't live an exciting and romantic life...

Here is the week in pictures. It's been a good week - although some of the good things were not things that photographed well! For example; spending over an hour helping work out a system that will allow a very disabled young man use the toilet was very satisfying, but not exactly something to use as photo of the day...

Things that did allow for photography included ( cat, shiny things, and something everyday that is well over 100 years old )

Daughter-dear rang home about 2 o'clock to say that she had reached half way on her walk - her feet are holding up, but her thighs are beginning to ache - I think it will be about 7 or 8 tonight by the time she'll finish - if she makes it. I am impressed that she's done over 12 miles already.

Thank you to LJ friends who gave to encourage her - and how wonderful is this? She asked me if it could be mentioned at church last Sunday - and for anyone who wanted to donate to simply pass the money to me - our wonderful congregation have, over the two weeks, given my £205! D-d is trying so hard to justify their belief in her - but I know they will all be as impressed as me even if 12.5 miles is as far as she got.

I reckon she must have been able to keep going after her lunch break, though, or she'd probably have rung to say she'd given up. I'll let you know how she does.

ETA - D-d completed the walk at about 9.15pm - they had forgotten to add the mileage from the university to the path and so actually walked over 27 miles! It took her 12 hours, but with a break of almost an hour and a half at the half way mark where they stopped and had lunch. 26 of them set off, and 'almost everyone' finished. The last few hours were done in the dark with a few torches!

I am inordinately proud of her, as she has never done anything like this before, and she has raised at least £300 herself - as a group they should, hopefully, reach their £3,000 target.

Her feet are fine - many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] zanthinegirl for the sock info. Her thighs and her knees hurt, and she is on her way home for a hot bath.

I have now got 330 pictures on the Flickr site - so 330 days down!

This week has no snow - and the odd hint of colour.

So ( click for the pics )

Also during the week I have been doing quite a lot of chatting with D-d about her forthcoming 26 mile walk and her work at college; been writing - and really having fun with the next chapter of "Brotherhood"; oh, and bought myself a lovely warm blue jacket in the sale at Elvi - I am so glad that someone bought Elvi just before they disappeared - some of my very favourite clothes are from Elvi!
curiouswombat: (notes from a small island)
It has been a week in which the weather, more or less, returned to normal for the time of year - and so some of the pictures do not have a lot of colour... others do!

So, under the cut this week ( grey days, a reminder of spring, and a pile of junk for Kes! )

Now I intend to drink a wee glass of wine, and go back to Minas Tirith in midsummer; not quite so difficult as it would have been last week!
curiouswombat: (notes from a small island)
I feel as if the small island in my icon should be capped with snow this week. Most unusually for us we have had snow which stayed, and so, of course, it features in some of this week's pictures - but not quite all...

( snow, scenic snow and... THAT RING! )

Talking of Christmas presents, my gift to S2C of an electrically heated duvet has proved very acceptable in this weather! Of course it was a bit of a mean gift, as I got the King-sized version and benefit from it too - but I think we can recommend it for anyone, like S2C, who feels the cold!

Today the last bit of Christmas cake was eaten and I have put most of the boxes of decorations out in the shed - we are on the way to spring people, honestly!
curiouswombat: (notes from a small island)
This week included my birthday and New Year - oddly, the pictures don't really reflect either of these events!

Instead they include ( an angel, a posh frock, and a girl and her granny... )

My plan for the next few days on my journal is to show a couple more pictures of the festival of trees, post the next chapter of the Winter Tale, and do some serious squeeing about the Middle Earth Fanfic Awards...
curiouswombat: (notes from a small island)
As you might expect there is something of a festive theme to this week's pictures - but a there are a couple which aren't about Christmas, honestly. Included is a picture of THIS YEAR'S CAKE. For newer friends, every year my daughter and I have a long planning discussion about the decorating of the Christmas cake, which over the years has featured 'Christmas present', a penguin acrobatic display team, a Christmas stocking, a reindeer... all sorts. We do the decoration from scratch with lots of fondant icing and a good deal of laughter...

So, under the cut are pictures of ( Santas, the cake, Archbishop Sentamu for Christmas, some Ben boats... )
curiouswombat: (notes from a small island)
We've had a wee bit of snow today. Only about 1" or so, but unusual for us. The main problem is that the island is so hilly that if the roads get slippery-slidy a lot of us can't access the main roads, and so are stuck, from the point of view of using our cars.

So I didn't actually take a picture of the snow - today's picture shows what the nativity in church is like when you do it by the seat of your pants, using whoever is there!

( It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas... )
curiouswombat: (notes from a small island)
This week has been a week of working and baking - neither of which immediately show up in the photos! But there is a bonus picture to do with the baking...

So we have ( a famous man's grave, someone's Christmas dinner, and fair wind... )

Hmm- I think I may have just heard the wreath falling off the front door - I didn't wash the door before I started, and so the suction hook might not have sucked quite as well as it usually does. I was just boasting the other day that it always stays put, and you know they say pride goes before a fall - well I think this time it might be quite literal!

Oh, and the fair wind? Ellan Vannin Pipes and Drums used to be called Cair Vie - Manx for Fair Wind - a good name for a pipe band, but probably prone to being mixed up with the fishing boat of the same name from Ramsey...
curiouswombat: (Festive)
40 weeks down and only 12 to go - how fast the time is going!

This week I've been quite busy - you have got to click to see the wonders of ( cakes, cards, Little London, the elephants' graveyard and the world's most psychedelic gingerbread snowmen - ever! )

A number of children went home with green tongues...
curiouswombat: (notes from a small island)
It's been quite a busy week - and the weather has had its moments...

( This week includes sea, etchings and something bright and cheerful! )

I really must get on with making my Christmas cards this evening - although there is always the knitting...
curiouswombat: (notes from a small island)
It's Sunday again - another week of photographs. The two main themes of the week seem to be weather and preparing for Christmas, seascapes seem to have featured quite a bit, too. We have had a great deal of weather this week...

( mostly with water... )

Now - I have the next chapter of Brotherhood ready to post tomorrow, and the one after that half written, three cakes iced, and a load of washing to get out of the machine and hang up. I have knitting to finish for Christmas and cards to make, both pleasant ways to spend the rest of the afternoon.

Think I'll go make some coffee.
curiouswombat: (notes from a small island)
Hmm - what exciting things have I seen to take pictures of this week?

( As usual there is a sea-scape and some trees... and food. Predictable, me? )

So - not an exciting week. Things will start to get busy though - next week at Sunday School we start our Christmas preparations - the Sunday after that is the first Sunday in Advent...
curiouswombat: (notes from a small island)
The week has gone by quickly. It has included at least one of those meetings where you find yourself thinking 'Well that's an hour and a half I'm never getting back...' a lovely meal out, changeable weather.

The pictures reflect some of this, but not all of it. There is one which will gladden [livejournal.com profile] hesadevil's heart, remembering her post about 'guys', and there is quite a long bit about Remembrance Sunday as well.

( confused flowers, a rainbow, and some children doing something traditional - all under here )

And now I must go to finish off dinner - there is a casserole in the oven, I just need to do potatoes to go with it - and be grateful that I am here, and I have food to eat, in peace.
curiouswombat: (notes from a small island)
It occurred to me this week that it is going to be harder to take pictures on my way home from work, now that the clocks have gone back. It is dusk before 5pm now - so under the cut for this week are

( dusk pics, a wol, and some weird rehabilitation! )
curiouswombat: (notes from a small island)
I've been away from home most of the week, at a Royal College of Nursing Conference for Specialists in Continence Care, in York. So I was conferencing by day, and socialising by evening. I was really tired by the time I got home, and rather pleased for the extra hour in bed last night.

The pictures for this week ( include more than one tree, knickers, and our bedroom )

The next chapter of Brotherhood is completed - I did it long-hand on the boat, and as soon as S2C is up to nit-picking it for me, I will be able to post it - so probably tomorrow or Tuesday. And it's back to work tomorrow. There will probably be at least 25 messages on my voice mail...
