The Way of the Wombat

I said yesterday that I had been writing something that was out of my usual comfort zone - it simply came to me and forced me to write it down.

It is a purely Lord of The Rings piece, a stand alone, not anything to do with the Returnverse.

There is a commonly held feeling, in certain sections of fandom, that there is a good reason why both Boromir of Gondor and Théodred of Rohan, heirs of their respective countries, were unwed and without issue, in their early forties...

This story grew from a comment made to just_ann_now and this story is almost as much for her as for me.

It is not gentle, or fluffy, but dark for me, and includes sex, sometimes involving more than two people and more than one sex...

I leave it to you to decide whether everything happens now as per canon, or whether these events may have had some bearing on how people reacted in certain situations, so giving different outcomes... But it is quite possible to go from here straight back to canon. (Note to Ningloreth - even your canon...)

The title comes, with help from my beta, from a Placebo song - which I eventually posted a link to here - with the lyrics as well. If you know it, or go to look, you will see why he suggested it...
