Whilst getting dinner ready I heard S2C and D-d falling around laughing. As they were watching the news on TV at the time I wondered what on Earth the joke was, and had to go in to ask them.
Between gasps for breath the husband explained. The newscaster had said, after a short piece about Tony Blair canvasing for the UK local elections, that the Prime Minister was using 'The Life of Brian' defense, meaning 'What did the Romans/New Labour ever do for you?'
Only Kat reinterpreted the remark as 'John Prescott is not the Messiah! He's a very naughty boy.'

Date: 05/05/2006 08:55 pm (UTC)The user name stems from a nickname my husband has for me - I am naturally clumsy I'm afraid, and when we saw an out-takes show where a wombat fell off a table on which he appeared to simply be standing still, 'Wombat' I became, and have been for all my married life.
Curious - because I like to know 'why?' or 'why not?' about many things!
