I am weary - I even fell asleep briefly whilst watching the Olympics - but actually it's been a rather nice day.

It was a family service at Church this morning - the theme was winter, and we had made some paper 'snowflakes' at Sunday School last week, augmented by a few more D-d and I made at home, which we strung across the back of the Sanctuary (which is covered with blue velvet curtains), and across the front of the pulpit. The lady who had done the flowers had done beautiful wintry arrangements, and then the final touch were 'icicles' across the front of the Communion table, and the lectern. D-d made these for me, out of scrumpled up sandwich bags cut into spiky strips, with the odd sprinkle of glitter - and they were amazingly realistic, people kept complimenting 'the children' on them, and I had to keep pointing out that actually D-d had done them. It was a lovely service.

Then we watched the Men's Half-pipe whilst we ate dinner - D-d loves the snowboarding.

So not enough there to wear out a wombat - but then I went bowling. With some of the youngsters from Church. And I have now got a sore shoulder, and sore hips - I really ought to do it more often, so that I wouldn't ache, as actually I really enjoy it!

Then we went to the chip shop for a meal - three teenagers, one five year old, the other two 'teachers' and me - one of the younger bowlers having a prior engagement and having to give the meal a miss.

I'm not sure what the Chinese lads who were working in the chip shop made of a party where two had 'pensioners specials' (Gillian having pointed out that both her and Ishbel officially qualified!), one children's special, and four adult meals! And very nice the fish and chips were (English chips = fat chunky American fries).

The bowling wasn't really that strenuous - I shouldn't really be so tired - maybe it was the sea air (Our bowling alley is right down on the sea-front) and the enormous amount of carbohydrates I ate!

It does sound like you had a full and fun day -- I'd be tired, too. And for some reason, I'm now craving fish and chips. (Your kind, not ours.)

There is something very comforting about a nice big piece of cod in a really crisp batter, just out of the frier, with chips - and tomato sauce/ketchup. It probably has enough calories to keep a small African country fed for a week - but fish is so healthy after all!

Well, fish is healthy unless you cook it in batter and dip it in tarter sauce, like I do.
It's like popcorn -- perfectly healthy until you start adding things to it. :-)
