curiouswombat: (Bugger!)
[personal profile] curiouswombat
The last three times I have tried to comment, I have hit 'post comment', and found myself on what LJ tells me is my home page - not on [livejournal.com profile] gillo's journal with my comment showing, nor on [livejournal.com profile] azalaisdep's journal ditto.

So, sorry ladies - no idea where the comments went. Is anyone else having the same problem?

ETA - it does seem to be improving again - hurrah!

I'm just getting posting errors about one in two comment attempts.

(C/Ps comment for safety, presses Post...)

Huh. That posted first time, disproving the point I was making. Sort of good/bad outcome really.

That one took two goes though.

I will shut up now. :)

Hope yours is speedily fixed.

And when I went to reply to your comment, at least it didn't actually eat it. When it send me off to the home page, and I clicked the back button, the comment was still there - whereas the past few times it had disappeared totally - so perhaps the spasm is passing!!

Yes, it's playing silly buggers tonight. If I try to select an icon, nothing will post. If I don't it currently seems about 50% of the time I can comment, the rest of the time it tells me there's a syntax error. Yuck.

I could only comment in a reply, not as a comment to your actual post.

Thank you. It occurred to me that no comments at all would either mean that [A] everyone had the same problem or [B] that nobody cared!

There is another ddos attack from Russia.
I'm having trouble, too. And I know a couple of others who are not able to comment either.

I'm really glad it isn't just me. And that it is, at least, not a total crash just yet!

One of my LJ friends wrote me an email all panicky saying she'd never be able to comment again. But then she overreacts that way a lot.
:)
I'm glad it's not entirely crashed too.
:)

Next try, doesn't work either for me. I got this error message:

This time, it worked. *scratches head*

I keep getting my own home page - it is very weird! But it is nice to know that you are all here... somewhere. And I am now averaging one success in two!

Let's see... *presses post comment*

Edit: looks like it works ok for me.

Thank you. It looks as if it is beginning to clear - I might eventually, try to go back and write those comments again!

Hmm - didn't work the first time I hit 'post comment'...

Frequently, as well as other issues. Live Journal is buggier than an entomologists' convention; give it a day or two and you'll have other issues besides. The sole and only reason I bother with a paid account is so that I can track the fic communities and people on my flist, even though the notifications are often not sent anyway.

Dreamwidth is not nearly as glitchy, but not everyone or every community is on Dreamwidth, sadly.

I've only had this problem for the past hour or two - and it does seem to be clearing... she says, hopefully!

I have never really taken to Dreamwidth - and the cross-posting thing never worked when I tried it - DW kept telling me that I didn't know my own LJ password - so I gave up trying!

It took a bit of futzing and working with Dreamwidth technical support to hold my hand through the process of coding (they're very good about that and have a lot of patience), but I finally managed to work out how to ensure my posts cross posted and have been using Dreamwidth to make my LJ posts ever since.

I couldn't get on at all this afternoon so checked their status page. It still says:
DDoS attack!
LiveJournal is currently under a DDoS attack, and the site may be slow or inaccessible for short periods of time. We are actively fighting this attack, and working to restore normal functionality of the site as quickly as possible. Thank you for your support and patience!

Thank you. I should really have looked. It was just such an odd effect though - no message to say it couldn't be posted, no 'page not available' - it was as if the link had been changed so that 'post comment' was now 'home'.

I have had problems with LJ all day. They have been experiencing service disruption according to a status page I use.

From: [identity profile] curiouswombat.livejournal.com
I should have looked at the status page, shouldn't I? It was just that it was such a weird glitch, not any of the usual ones you usually get with a DDOS attack.

Seems to be better now, anyway....

Russia is having political issues and LJ is a big social platform for dissenting voices... hence a DDOS attack on the Russian servers . But it's getting better now

Usually it would have occurred to me - the G20 and all the associated possibilities were almost bound to trigger one, really. It was because I had such a weird glitch, rather than any of the usual ones you get with a DDOS attack, that I was a bit thrown.

However, it seems better now. Fingers crossed.

I guess it was almost inevitable, with the G20 meeting.

However I seem to be getting them to post first time almost every time now - so things are clearly a lot better. Hurrah!

It was such an odd glitch - as if a train kept being shunted onto the wrong line! But it seems to be OK now.

(At least I hope so - I haven't tried hitting 'post comment' yet this morning...)

Bah! No comment! I want my comment! Waaaaah... [etc]

LJ was being very very flaky last night - downrightnow agreed it wasn't just me. I ended up posting to Dreamwidth and was quite surprised just now to realise that LJ had accepted the crosspost eventually!
