Yay! for July. Any month that includes more than one occasion for fireworks and foodfests is a great month for me!!

To be honest, although Tynwald Day has been observed continuously since that nominal date of 979, there have been times when the island was more or less a private feifdom and Tynwald had only nominal power - but continue it did, all that time. Which makes it, probably, the oldest continual parliament in the world!
