Not a Weather Report.
11 Jan 2005 10:58 pmSee - I have been doing something other than listening to the weather! I remember before Christmas promising that I would post some more of the odd twists on Christianity I get from the children at Church, and this might be a time when, post-partying, pre-pay day, you could do with a giggle, so here is another one.
Last year we were looking at the Ten Commandments, and to introduce the idea of getting, and obeying, rules we started with some pictures of people who might give you important instructions. There was an air stewardess saying 'Please fasten your seatbelts,' a dentist saying 'Clean your teeth twice a day,' and a mother saying 'Wash your hands before dinner'. Then we went on to God's Rules to help people live their lives properly - 'Always remember that God is important', 'Don't be rude to Mummy and Daddy' 'Don't spend all your time being jealous of things other people have' and so on.
Next week, we start by me asking 'Can anyone remember what we were talking about last week?' 'Me, I can.' says Daniel (Yes - it was he of Joseph The Carpeter fame!). 'We were talking about God's Rules!' Brilliant I thought, and asked could he, or any of the others, remember any of the rules God gave Moses? Much thought, then 'I got one, I got one!' says Daniel - 'God says that you should always clean your teeth, and wash your hands before you eat your dinner!' So now you know!! There were in fact 12 commandments but these first two somehow got lost!
Coming tomorrow - 'Our Father Richard in Heaven', and other versions of The Lord's Prayer.
