New Year, old year resolutions
2 Jan 2005 11:46 pmHi Ho, so another year then. Feeling a bit Eeyore about it. Had a nice day yesterday, my Mother came for lunch, and we had a really traditional meal - roast goose and root vegetables - roast potatoes, roast parsnips and carrots. And the goose was just right.
Not big on the Resolutions - how about lose the 2lb I've put on over the festive season,in case another 5 or 6lb sneak up on me before I notice? That seems pretty achievable! OH - and I will not try to recapture my long lost youth by buying a big motor-bike. When I was a regular biker I couldn't ride anything bigger than a 500cc as I have little short legs and the bigger bikes would fall over at halt signs - so I should be able to keep this one as well. Mind they were good times!
Daughter-dear has the resolution thing taped - she makes Old Year Resolutions! Her Old Year Resolution for 2004 was to be completely teetotal, and cleanse her system by fasting, until the end of the year. As midnight struck, she declared herself well satisfied, and celebrated with some coffee liqueur and a chocolate, having held her resolve from the moment she had made the resolutions - 11.40pm on the 31.12.04! I really think it could catch on!

Date: 03/01/2005 11:01 am (UTC)The real reason we often have goose at New Year is because my Mum gets them from the farm across the road from where she lives, and basically comes to lunch bearing her own goose! My sister gets Mum with goose for Boxing Day. That way my Mum gets two goose dinners, without having to cook them!
Perhaps don't even think about goose until you're back to normal weight!!

Date: 03/01/2005 11:33 am (UTC)You can't even buy goose here, in most grocery stores. I'm going to save the first para of your reply into my "recipe" folder, and hunt down a goose next Thanksgiving. Don't want to wait for Christmas--(although at my age, Christmases come quicker and quicker!)
