Now to the current knitting -

Another one for my new grand-niece Edith - this one will go into my box to give her later as it is age 6 months.

I have had this wool/yarn for a while - I knitted a lot of teddies with it last year. I was really pleased to find a nice all-in-one pattern so that the colours worked. I took the time to unravel the yarn for the sleeves and then wind it into two balls that started at the same place, I am glad that I did. The buttons are green and pink - I decided they were fun.



Our WI group is called Spring Chickens. As part of a group project I decided to knit... a couple of spring chickens.



Chick on the right looks a bit odd because she has her beak open!

I learnt at school when I was 8 - before that my granny had tried but she was trying to teach left handed me how to knit right-handed and I couldn't get to grips with it at all.

Back then all the girls in my school were taught to knit in year 2 Juniors - I have no idea what the boys did! Miss Gale saw me as a challenge - and taught me to knit left-handed.

So it is just something that it feels as if I have always done it; having a baby in the family is fun because baby clothes only take 2 or 3 evenings :)

I'm also a leftie (very left handed) which is why I also struggled although I can embroider.

These days there are a lot of good left-handed videos on Youtube - although this description of how to do a stitch appealed to my granddaughter. Then all you need to know is the 'onto' needle goes behind the 'off' one for a knit stitch and to the front for a purl and you're good to go!

Although, to be honest, I think being able to embroider is an even better skill.

I saw your LJ post but didn't comment there, because I'm not commenting or posting. But here you are, and let me say thank you for the links. I feel so helpless, unable to help, but you have good ideas.

I love the teddies. My first thought was, "Teddies? Won't they itch?" because I was thinking of the sexy undergarment called teddy. Your teddy bears are just adorable.

I think I'm going to get a Tapestry of War T-shirt. Thanks for the link.

I have been an Armstreet fan for a few years - and it has been really interesting to read how they have coped and changed since the invasion. S2C expects his T shirt will take 3 or 4 weeks to get here - it is amazing that it can be made and get here at all, really.
