I was looking for something on google and followed a link to a church's on-line version of its regular magazine.

The front page made me laugh out loud - which I am sure was not the intention.

Does anyone else, apart from S2c and I, find Oakwood Methodist Church's June 2010 magazine front page hilariously funny due to the juxtaposition of the photo of a church event and the Biblical text?

ETA - as only some people can access the page I have, thanks to the Winter Witch, copied it

Th strange lines are original.

Alas, I got the "forbidden" error message, it must be locked down to members.

That's strange - perhaps it is only open to UK ISP addresses, as I am not a member. But then it let [livejournal.com profile] bear_good_foamy access it and he is not in the UK...

I will see if I ca copy the relevant bit- give me a few minutes...

I had to trick it a bit, it's probably set up to block direct links. But if you click the link, then type a blank space before the "http" and hit "enter", you should get right to it.

Same thing here, Forbidden Access! Darn !

More Rain last night and I think we have a lodger, we access the back of the garage through our patio room, it's built on to the back of the house and sort of fills in the corner with access from the kitchen, when I went to let the cat out this morning I found some thing had got into the trash but the door to the out side was shut. Let's hope what ever critter got shut in gets out!

Enjoy your day out.

Huggs,
Lynda

It is odd, my daughter accessed it from work with no problem.

And I just clicked on it from Google...

but I have copied it into the post now!

I've managed to copy the relevant bit into the post now.

It is really odd, though - I just clicked on the link from google, [livejournal.com profile] beer_good_foamy could access it, so could my daughter at work - but no-one else can.

I have no idea what logic gives this result, but you can now come back and see the silly bit without any possibility of reading their magazine - which I can't see being their original intent, but there you go!

It is certainly different!

And Paradise appears to bear some resemblance to the English countryside...

Well it's either Shrek or is it the Giant from Jack and the Beanstalk? Could this be a picture from their Panto?

It seems that the church mag is not the only thing I can't get into today, S.O.A. is having problems too! Nobody loves me any more, sob, sob.

I'm not sure whether it is Shrek or a giant, either. Either way it is a strange representation of Paradise!

I see what you mean about SOA as well - I had problems last week, too, but they had cleared.

This is hilarious. I thought that the budget for Paradise would at least include better clothing options and eliminate the poor copy of Shrek. Too funny!

I'm thinking, looking at the picture again, that it is certainly not a version of Paradise Vladimir Putin would want to go to; it is a very traditional panto cast, with the female 'principle boy', and I bet the figure in the back, in purple with the silver hat, is the dame - and therefore male...

There again it is only non-traditional' relationships he's against and you don't get much more traditional than the cross-dressing of pantomime!

Oh no - this isn't American - it is in rural England Hence the picture of the village pantomime accidentally placed right above the biblical quote.

Having had another look at the picture I think it is Puss in Boots, Puss being the young lady on the right with the Whiskers!

Oh, well off to make lazy corn fritters for dinner tonight.

Hmm - if God is the big green guy, does that make the principle boy into Jesus? That's just weird.
