In a writer's note to the story No Greater Love, MJ said The descriptions of the elaborate ceremonial robes and the procession to the Great Hall were in part inspired by the artwork of the illustrator Sulamith Wülfing, which often depicted a juxtaposition of intricately dressed living people with ethereal spirits. She and Arthur Rackham are among my favorite illustrators, and if my descriptions sometimes wax poetic, you may often blame one of them. :)

And I was suddenly transported back to my teens and twenties when I had two favourite posters by Sulamith Wülfing - and I had since forgotten her existence completely.

So I had a wonderful evening reacquainting myself with her work - and wanted to share it with others who may have forgotten similar posters, or have never come across her work before. I have gathered just a few of my favourites together here at photobucket, and have put some of them under this cut -

This is one of the ones I had on my walls for some years -

it is called Falling Leaf.

This is the other one -

But I realise it perhaps shouldn't actually look like that - as everywhere I've seen it on the internet it has actually been this way around -

So apparently I had it on my wall sideways for all those years.

This is my current favourite, called Sleeping - I have it as my desktop -

And it makes me think of Éowyn.

So in my mind I also think of this as Éowyn with her grandmother Queen Morwen

And perhaps this is her with Faramir...

And a couple more favourites -

This is called The Golden Ball -

And i think this is called the Cloak, but I'm not sure -

if you like them, there are more in my photobucket - as above - I'm pretty sure it is set to public, but if you click it and can't access it please let me know!
