Here are the first of my scenic pictures of Skye.

My friend lives in a village called Broadford in the east of Skye - it is the second largest settlement on the island - it has a not very big supermarket, a tiny general store, a garage/gift shop, a post office/gift shop, at least four art galleries, a jewellers and a number of other small shops. As you can tell from that description, they get a lot of visitors - hence all the gift shops and art galleries! These three photos show three views of Broadford.

This first picture is the view out of my bedroom window looking south-westish I think!

This second picture is the view from the sitting room window – looking out over Beinn na Caillich – The Old Woman’s Hill. I find the Scottish Gaelic names interesting – they are so similar to Manx gaelic, but not quite the same - in Manx it would be Bhen ny Callaigh (I think that is spelled correctly – [livejournal.com profile] handrejka will correct me if I’m wrong!)

And the third picture is the view from the recycling bins – honestly! This has got to be the recycling area with the best view in the British Isles! It looks across Broadford bay to mainland Scotland – northish I think, but I don’t have a very good sense of direction!

View from the recycling bins, Broadford.

I might post some more of the scenic pictures later tonight, otherwise tomorrow.

Gorgeous pictures. We were on Skye about 6 years ago so these made me very nostalgic, though it looks as if you had better weather (not that ours was bad, it just mixed).

The weather was very mixed - these three were all taken on the same bright day, but there were damp days, and one downright wet one. I felt very sorry for those brave (?mad) souls who were touring on bicycles - they looked very soggy that day!
