Driftwood Horses.
19 May 2012 03:33 pmI saw the Heather Jansch on the television the other night, talking about her driftwood sculptures - and had to share.
Most of her sculptures are horses - here is an example

Aren't they wonderful? And all made from wood she has found on the shore.
To see more, here is a link to her gallery - The stag made me think of the Greenwood...

Memorial
Date: 19/05/2012 05:46 pm (UTC)Part of him hopes she is leading him to the beach to lay with him there under the sky, but he also reads the sound of her laughing, pleased with herself. She is clever, and full of surprises; he will just have to wait and see what she has planned.
Finally they stop. She turns him 'round and 'round, then "Lean down," she says, and unties the blindfold.
He straightens up, looks around him, gasps. She claps her hands with delight.
"Aren't they amazing? They are made of driftwood, cast up upon the beach."
Suddenly her eyes turn serious. She curtseys.
"They are a gift from the sea, and from the people of Dol Amroth, my lord," she says. "When my people look at them, they will remember the Riders of Rohan, and honor the sacrifices made to protect them, sacrifices by strangers who live across the sea of grass."
