So Hello!

So hello! After much nagging from husband (S to C) I have finally got my own livejournal. After listing things in interests I realise that to a large extent I am currently too busy doing Christmas to do almost anything else. Have just spent about an hour and a half with Katherine (teenage daughter) browsing Australian gift sites to send Christmas things to in-laws. Definitly the easiest way to do it - wrapping things up so that they get there safely not my strong point!

Husband finally stood over me and forced me to open livejournal after I told him something that happened in Church this morning - he thought you'd all enjoy it, but he has finally decided that my excuse that there is no use having an author and doing your own writing was not good enough.

So - visualise scene - Sunday School group currently consists of 3 over 10's and about six 4-7s, plus a creche group, all older children now having 'graduated' to Church. Then everyone over age of 7 decides that they will be away on the Sunday before Christmas, when we traditionally do a Nativity in Church - so cast all below waist height!

We are talking about costumes - Daniel, who is to be Joseph, (as he is the oldest boy in the cast at five and a half!) asks 'Do I have anything to carry?' I answer that I haven't got anything at the moment, (thinking 'possibly a lantern?'). 'Well should I have a rolled up piece of carpet then?' asks Daniel. I am puzzled into silence. (A Carpet? Perhaps in the School Nativity he has just told me about they had a piece of carpet for Mary and Joseph to sit on?) After waiting for my non-existent answer, he continues 'Because Joseph was a Carpeter wasn't he?' !!! Will you ever be able to see a Nativity Play again without wondering where Joseph's carpet is?

Welcome! Hee! "Carpeter." Another punster. Clearly, you and Speakr are meant for each other. Mind if I friend you?

I would love you to friend me! Although I can't take the credit for that particular pun - Daniel did it all by himself!!

Hello, Madame Speaker! It's a pleasure to meet you, and I'm glad you got your own LJ. I convinced my daughter [livejournal.com profile] the_rice_girl to start her own also, because I'd been having such fun with mine, but she goes to University and is in the throes of term finals and papers and has not had time to post, but she promises to do so over the holiday break.

I also am a Celt by ancestry, as three of my grandparents were born in Wales and one in Cornwall.

Looking forward to more of your posts; you must be a very special lady, because your husband is such a gem.

Husband so impressed by your comment about him that he a) is glowing, and
b) had to come upstairs after I'd gone to bed to point it out to me!!

I live in Greenwich Mean Time, whereas he tends to live in a timezone somwhat akin to Greenland! I go to bed about 4 hours before him, and get up about 3 hours before him - but then I start work about 6 hours before him - so you can see why we function in different time zones! Amazingly enough we do occasionally speak to each other in passing!

Welcome Mrs. Speakr!

Our children's nativity play is next week. My older son (6th grade) was to wear pink (I'm not sure what this is all about - The Colors of Christmas I've been told) and explain about pink. His youth leader stopped me this morning and told me he'd gotten a reprieve, he's now a wise men.

I told him real men can wear pink. But your story is much better!

Friending you now.

We have had day-glo pink angels on a Christmas Frieze a few years ago - as the minister said 'Who is to say that angels aren't bright pink?'

Welcome to LJ, and thanks for the story.

I remember a kid drawing a Nativity with a little fat man in the corner--"Round John Virgin."

And I just finished doing some on-line shopping too. Since none of our relatives live in the same part of the States as us, I agree it's the easiest way to handle things.

btw, don't let my icon scare you. Other things about me should scare you, but the sensible just ignore my icons.

Hi, I am reliably informed, well OK, by my Mum but she's FAIRLY reliable - that in Sunday School myself, aged about 6, I produced a picture of Mary, Joseph and the Baby in an aeroplane, with some other person sitting in the front. No-one was too sure about the relevance of this to the Christmas story, but it was my understanding of 'The Flight Into Egypt'.
'All right', said Mum, but who is the other person - my rather indignant reply was that that was 'Pontius - The pilot'!!

Hee!

Welcome again. We have quite a bit in common, I think. I'm married to an insane person too, and we have two teenage daughters.

Welcome to the madness...no, we really are sane (runs off to polish her crazy toys...)! I'm actually quite dull...but I like to introduce myself with a bang. First impressions and all. Enjoyed your story. Look forward to hearing more from you. You're on my friend's list now. So there's no getting away from me:).

Welcome to LJ!

Cute story. Kids are the best 'cause they don't even realize they made a funny. It's just fun to see the world throught their eyes sometimes.

You attend the URC? I attend the Canadian RC (not sure if that means anything to you, but yes. Thought I'd mention it)

Hi - I guess it's probably fairly similar - Free Church, fairly laid-back and friendly, low on ceremonial. By the way - StC (Woops - I've just sanctified him!) has pointed out to me that you and I share a birthday - cue for a virtual party perhaps!!

Thanks for the welcome. Many years ago, on an out-takes programme, there was a wombat on a table in an Aussie Vet series, and as one character reassures another that the wombat is perfectly safe on the table, it falls off it. As I am known to fall over holes in the ground that aren't there, I became known to my beloved as Wombat.

The 'curious' comes from a level in a silly game called Rocket Mania, where you can achieve the level of Curious Badger!!

Welcome to the madhouse LJ! Did your better half show you this (http://www.livejournal.com/users/claudia_yvr/128125.html)? Then again, that was probably plastered all over the news in the UK, lol.

Yes, it has been around on the news a bit. I love the quote'"God is not going to worry. He is going to cope -- '!! Anyway, I suppose it could have been worse - Jordan and Peter Andre as the central figures - a bit like a UK version of Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee but with a lot less class! Who else can you think of that would be worse wise men than the BBs? Anyone?

I truly think whoever put that tableau together outdid themselves in their choices, lol. I went to pieces laughing my head off when I first read about this and continued giggling all throughout the day.

Welcome
