[livejournal.com profile] beanbeans tagged me to do an all-about-me sort of meme - and here it is

1. Make a list of 5 things that you can see without getting up.

1. the television
2. my laptop
3. candles
4. family photographs
5. Shaka (who came into the room as I typed.)

2. How do you style your hair?

Style? What is this 'style' of which you speak? It is very short, I rub a blob of mousse into it, run my fingers through it, and let it dry naturally.

3. What are you wearing now?

Black trousers, black jumper (sweater to my American friends) grey and black geometrically patterned cardigan.

4. What's your occupation?

Community Nurse Specialist.

5. What do you hear right now?

BBC North-East, the water trickling in the indoor fountain, the cat wanting a fuss.

6. Who was the last person you hugged?

One of my patients.

7. What is/was for dinner?

Curry.

8. What did you do today?

Worked.

9. Dog person or cat person?

Cat.

10. If you had to change your name, what would you change it to?

I don't think I would.

11. What was the last thing that you bought?

a Thornton's mini praline egg for S2C - because he likes them.

12. If you could afford to go anywhere in the world, where would you go?

All around Europe by First Class train - including the Orient Express.

13. Where do you see yourself in five years?

Retired!!

14. Favourite book?

Varies from day to day.

15. What are you doing this weekend?

Spending time with my mother, my husband, and my daughter - yay! - D-d is coming home to be cosseted.

16. If you could play any musical instrument, which one would you play?

Guitar.

17. How are you?

Ta mee braew (I am fine)

18. What are you doing tomorrow?

Working.

19. What are you looking forward to the most?

A week off work next week, having D-d home for the week, then plans to celebrate our Silver wedding, seeing some of my LJ friends in London in May, and others in Coventry in August - just nice things, nothing spectacular!

Also - a recommendation to friends in the UK - do look out for The Boat that Guy Built on BBC1 at 7.30 this evening. Guy Martin is going to be a natural for television, I would think, having heard him interviewed a number of times, over the years, on our local radio station in his role as a racing motorcyclist. I think he might become the 21st century's answer to Fred Dibnah - and probably funnier!

5. Shaka (who came into the room as I typed.)

I'm so very glad that you're able to say that. :)

It's such a pleasure - at the moment he is curled up in his bed, snoring gently - a sound I appreciate more than before!

He is trying to make up for lost time, I think.

We obviously have similar hair!

I'm so envious that you'll be retired within five years. I'm looking at 65 and only then if they don't push the date back again. *sigh*

Hope you enjoy your week off.

It used to be normal for district nurses to retire at fifty-five - but of course we won't get our state pensions now till 65 and ten years is a very long gap. But most of us do go between fifty-five and sixty; at least up to now they expect us to go at sixty- our contracts say so, so that we don't stay past our ability to do the job.

I think we'll have to wait and see, though.

I am looking forward to a week in which I don't have to be dressed and out of the house in time for work, but can lie around a bit!

Hee! I copied it. It's surprising how many of my answers were similar or the same as yours. :)

Aren't wonderfuly relieve that Shaka is the 5th thing you can see?

As for hair style, you sound just like me, except for the blob of mousse.

It is so good for the house to be back to its normal catfulness!

The mousse adds a bit of body - it's a bit flat, otherwise, these days.

I would love to know that retirement was five years away. I'm afraid my husband will never retire, and if he doesn't, I don't get to. I really am a rotten employee. My work is good, but I have an attitude. He once threatened to fire me, but he wouldn't follow through! I really have it good, as I can do everything from home. But that also stinks, too, because I can't get away from piles of work waiting for me. Like the stack looking at me now that I've got to have done by morning.

We are, as far as I know, still automatically retired from my job. But things might have changed by then... although it would be lovely to make use of that works pension I have been paying into all these years even if I won't get my state pension for a few years after that.
