Firstly a big thank you for cards and the LJ gifts to brighten up my info page.

I don't expect many people have been waiting with baited breath for a picture of this year's Christmas Cake - but if you have been, it is under the cut! Along with a couple of snow pictures and the cat caught out playing when he didn't think anyone would notice...

On Tuesday over 4 days after the snow fell, I took D-d across the island to her dentist's appointment. The main road was clear, and it was pretty uneventful. We had a lovely lunch together at the pub near the dental surgery (venison casserole... chicken cobbler... yum!) and then I pottered whilst she had her bothersome tooth sorted out.

These two pictures were taken before and after our lunch, from the grounds of the pub -

I'm pretty sure if we went that way again today - almost a week since the first snowfall, it would still look the same - the temperature has hardly crawled above freezing since.

Back in the house, now that D-d was home, we got on with the decorating - I have some new angel lights for the mantelpiece, to go with the other angels, which I put up before she arrived to make the place a little festive -

I hadn't got many of the other bits out of the shed before she got home, or for the first day after - hoping the snow might clear... But, on Tuesday, after the trip over to Peel, we cleared the snow out of the way and got out tinsel, the tree and so on.

Someone, who was sleeping in his bed and treating the whole thing with disdain, apparently, got caught in the act when we came back into the living room -

Attempts were made to restrain him -

Got you!

But in the end she gave up and threw his toy back into the tinsel for him -

I seem to have not taken a picture of the tree - but it has all the collected glass and gold decorations - here is a foil angel -

Of course, as friends who have been around for a while will know, one of the jobs D-d and I always do when she gets home for Christmas is to decorate the rich fruit cake that we made in October. This year's them is -

STARS!

Here is a close up -

The tiny ones are the silver version of the edible stars I put onto those cupcakes a couple of weeks ago. I think they might crop up for a long time to come as a little really do go a long way!

So - the Christmas baking has, in part, followed the same theme -

Even the gingerbread, in the back of that shot has -

more stars!

So - now, I have still got presents to wrap, and other bits and bobs to do, but first D-d and I are going to head north, do Mum's shopping, eat tea with her and then go to the evening candle-lit service at her little parish church.

I'll probably be around over sometime over the next day or two but I think it is the right time to wish you all-

Week 43 Thursday
