The results for the Middle Earth Fanfic Awards are now decided. For those of you who have no knowledge of the MEFAs, winners are decided by the number and length of reviews written per story over a period of about six months - so real peer review!

This one made me especially happy -

Pure Morning

I was so pleased that Pure Morning won - it is the Éowyn/Boromir/Theodred piece that was unlike anything I'd ever written - and there was some, behind the scenes, checking in case it had too much sex for the MEFAs before reviewing started.

I got lots of pretty things for my drabbles too - I am really proud of them all'

This is for Reaping The Reward -

Reaping the Reward

This is for First Snowfall -

First Snowfall

This is for Always Something There to Remind Me -

Always something there..

And this is for Threshing Songs

Threshing Songs

Many congratulations to all my friends who also won pretty, shiny things in the MEFAs - well done to all!

I am very proud of them. The MEFAs have lots of categories and so it is lovely because lots of people get to win!

I'm really pleased. Although I still think Romance;Dunedain was an odd categorisation for PM - but it won it so I'll not complain!

Well done! Pure Morning is one of the few of yours I have read, and it's fab!

Oh - thank you! I have to admit that I was surprised that so many reviewers wrote long positive reviews for it - it is not exactly a 'fashionable' pairing/trebling.

Thank you :) I do love your stories and love giving reviews -- even if I have a few words to say. As for the MEFAs, I hope to have more time and energy to participate next year. This season, I only reviewed the stories I nominated. I know there are tons and tons of stories (yours included) I should have reviewed, but having been as busy as I was -- no chance, sadly.

Well deserved rewards! :D

Thank you - I am really thrilled at how many of them I got. Mind you only one of them was for something over 100 words long - much less work than yours took!

Ah, but worthy of the award all the same. Quality is quality, regardless of length. :)

I am really chuffed - especially about Pure Morning. Just wait until next year now that 'Amid the Powers...' is finished and out of Beta!

From: [identity profile] azalaisdep.livejournal.com
I'm secretly hoping Powers will get a nomination next year - though given the length of the thing, goodness knows how many people would get around to reviewing it...

It's already on my 'list of things to nominate next year' - although someone might beat me to it.

Thank you!

particularly for "Pure Morning"

I thought of you when I realised it had won. I remember you warning me, in an aside, that it might just sink without trace, and not to be upset if it did... And I was so pleased when it picked up the first review after your own one - but it didn't occur to me that it might win right until I got the e-mail.

(I hope you don't mind) I mentioned to Marta that if she ever wanted to do a "How to Write A Nice Review For A Story That's Not Your Cup of Tea" article, some of your reviews were textbook examples! (Most of them, anyway. There was that one....)

(I hope you don't mind) Not at all.

Some of them really were, weren't they? And actually more flattering for the writing in many ways - such as the one from Larner who actually said she read it from a sense of duty and was relieved to find it a story she could really respect.

My 'favourite' was by someone I am pretty sure won't read my journal so I can giggle a little - it was actually a very positive, 10 point review, but it included

I must admit, if I had know the fic contained slashy (or multiple partner) elements, I would probably have avoided it. Slash (et al) is fine, when it's canon but I can't read it when it's not.

And I did find myself thinking that "this contains scenes of male/male and male/female sex" in the summary at HASA might have given the impression it contained slashy elements... (The summary at my 'home' archive of Twisting the Hellmouth actually says "Contains sex; sometimes involving more than two people or less than two sexes!" But I thought, especially for the MEFAs, I should be even more clear at HASA.)

My husband and I did wonder what counts as canon slash in LotR...

Thank you - Pure Morning was quite scary to write - it kind of jumped at me, and demanded that I put the words down in black and white and I thought 'I don't write m/m'! I am amazed that it won, to be honest.
