Post Christmas post.
27 Dec 2008 09:27 pmHope everyone had a good Christmas, or whatever you may have been celebrating over the last week or so. Many thanks to all for the lovely cards, e-cards and LJ gifts for my profile page.
We had a quiet Christmas Day - D-d and I went to Church where we greeted family and friends and sang carols, and then came home and opened presents. I did well - a beautiful new Citizen Eco-drive watch from S2C(old one packed up a few months ago and I have been wearing my spare); Attention All Shipping, some Christmas Coffee, and figs and chocolate in ginger syrup from D-d; a cake tin with a removable glass bottom and a chain of baking beads from my Mum - both things I had expressed a desire for; a cookery book from Skye, also some scented candles and trees planted in Ethiopia; a digital photo frame (joint present with S2C, but MINE REALLY!!); a box of posh chocolate mints; and Bill Bailey's 'Tinselworm' - also a joint present with S2C from D-d - equally welcome this one! Oh, and a woolly scarf, a new pen set, a mug to match ones received by D-d and S2C and probably one or two other things that I have forgotten!
We had a fairly early lunch so that S2C could go to bed as he had to go to work from 12MN to 6a.m. It was a nice lunch though - we had a small turkey with; two sorts of stuffing, cranberry and apple sauce with port in, lots of sausages, with and without bacon wrappings, spiced red cabbage and roast potatoes. No need for any more veggies - Christmas in our house tends towards the carniverous...
D-d and I watched television, recorded the new Wallace and Grommit so that we can all watch together, read, she rang B:the boyfriend, we finally had a turkey sandwich about 7pm, and Christmas pudding with brandy cream about 9pm! A good day.
Yesterday, Boxing Day, we had a full house - friends for coffee in the morning, and my mother and my sister and her family for afternoon tea. I was able to use my cake-stand! Yay! And we finally cut into the Christmas cake - which really is excellent - I can say that, as D-d did more of the baking than me this year!
Today has involved tidying and cleaning so that the place is respectable again before B:tbf arrives to spend most of next week with us. This means that I have had to clear all my Christmas stuff out of the spare room - big job!
I have not done any shopping in the sales - I daren't buy myself anything until after I open my birthday presents tomorrow!
The Dawn in Middle Earth romance is almost ready to post - it just needs S2C to be about and alert enough to beta the second and third chapters. So, although I promised it before Christmas, it really won't be long now, if anyone is interested!
Now to go and whiten the grout in the bathroom... what an exciting life I lead!
