Christmas.
27 Dec 2006 11:19 pmI hope everyone had a good couple of days. Thank you to everyone who sent e-cards, solid-type cards, virtual gifts, and solid-type gifts - all were very much appreciated.
Many people talk about the different family traditions for this time of year - some of these are traditions passed down from generation to generation, others we make ourselves. My main memories of Christmas as a child are of my assorted great-aunts and uncles all arriving during the daytime on Christmas Eve to leave gifts - they visited us rather than the other way around because my grandparents lived in town, whilst most of the relatives lived in the country - and they all came to town to shop on Christmas Eve.
Then in the evening Auntie Phyllis and Uncle Willie arrived, and eventually my sister and I would be sent to bed, and our cousin Judith would be sent up to our room with us. I used to be a bit peeved about this - it meant that she stayed up much later than us, because when the grown-ups had finished talking, and having a drink or two, she would go home with her parents (about 5 or 6 miles) before she had to go to bed - and she was 4 months younger than me!
However, going back to us continuing to make new traditions, under the cut is a picture of my daughter, doing something which she pointed out to me 'is traditional!'
