We had snow today! The temperature was down to 0.5C and it snowed for a couple of hours. It even stuck on the hills. In October.

Perhaps we really are going to get a good, cold, winter. There again it might be the only snow we get this winter at all...

We had hail - and still haven't got my central heating back!

Hmm - I think I'd be in three jumpers and two coats if the heating wasn't working!

It's as if I had a web-cam on and you could see ... you missed the thermal sox and fleecy slippers!

Wow. Snow already, huh? We're not quite there yet, but there are rumors of freezing rain in the future...

It really is unusual - we can sometimes have a whole winter with no snow at all.

We're supposed to have a frost tonight and it's pretty nippy indoors, too! My son is whinging that I won't put the heating on before November I just tell him put another jumper on. :)

Our heating is on - only for about 3 hours a day, but definitely on!

My neighbour thinks I'm mad too but I don't think it is that cold yet. My partner and son would argue with that though. :)

The wind was pretty calm today, as was the sea, but it is picking up again now.

The husband is moaning about how terrible it will be if it's a really cold winter. I'm thinking 'Snow! Yay!'...

It's amazing how far down the country the snow has fallen - even [livejournal.com profile] spikereader near Milton Keynes has had some! We had a very thick frost this morning, but it was much warmer during the day because the sun was shining brightly. Chilly now though.

Keep warm!

I think, if anything, it is actually a bit warmer now. But it was chilly for a while there!

We had flurries yesterday although it's supposed to be about 60 degrees by Friday.

We'll be lucky to see 60F again now until spring. It sits in the 40s most of the time between now and April.

It snowed here (and settled) too. So much for global warming, I think it's back to the next ice-age cometh predictions of the 1960s.

I tend to think of it more as climate change than global warming... the weather is just 'more' mostly.

It's snowing in Reading right now - and has been for several hours. Too wet to settle though, since it was raining for many hours before that.

Odd, I call it.

It's sunny and 64f/17.7c here today; the last time we had weather like this the last week of October we had snow Nov. 1st (which stuck for a day and then was rained away) and then were snowed in between Christmas and New Years. I am trying not to brag or gloat about worrying about sunburn and picking raspberries, because it would goeth before a snowfall.

Julia, on the other hand, I'm finally almost caught up on the laundryt backlog of towels and jeans from a rainy summer.

I am making no attempt to predict the weather - although the rowan trees have been heavy with berries which my mother reckons fortells a bitter winter.

I'd quite like a white winter, but I'm not holding my breath!

Wow-- snow already? We've had some in the mountains, but it hasn't really stuck yet. I went for a long walk on the waterfront; it was 50 degrees!

eta for typo...

It didn't stay stuck for long - but for two or three hours it was white on the hills. It usually happens once or twice each winter, in January, February, or March - but not in October!

Your 50F is more what we would expect at this time of year.

We went from 27° to 57°, and it was sunny and beautiful. I'm glad you had snow, but I'm willing to wait a couple of months. Oh, that is wishful thinking!

It was icy last night - the car is iced - it is very early in the season for us, I must say. Usually it would be a couple of months away, and last year I think the car was only iced maybe two or three times in the whole winter.

Hee! I was a teenager in the 80s, and I never looked like that. In all fairness my sister aspired to looking like that however!
