Hello from wettest Scotland. It took me seven hours to drive from York to Ballantrae - not too bad, as it was a long drive for me. It took Dorothy even longer to get down from Skye, though!

The B&B we are staying at is wonderful - we basically have a tiny cottage each.

When I arrived my laptop was totally dead - nothing was showing even a flicker of life - but this morning it woke up bright and perky and back to normal - goodness knows why it had been down. I wasn't too worried, though, as it is my old one, just in case!

Anyway - back to the trip - it rained heavily all last night, and much of today - so we visited Culzean Castle which is about 15 to 20 miles from here. A fascinating house - interesting to see where they kept adding bits on, mainly trying to get the best of the sea-views, and make it more 'romantic' looking. The grounds were water logged in places, but we have not been anywhere near as affected by the weather as some of the towns around here - the local news shows that some of them are flooded.

Not too sure what we will do with ourselves tomorrow, yet, I think it might depend, to an extent, on which town is not under water!.

Have fun in Bonny Scotland! And do not fall into a loch or a broch.

There has been so much rain that there are lochs where there should be fields. We were saying 'Hmm - is that Loch Ken, or a flooded field? Ah - it is four or five flooded fields - Loch Ken is a bit further down. Spilling over the road!'
