It's a Meme! Who'd a guessed it? From my friend [livejournal.com profile] mawombat. This doesn't surprise me one bit, really!

gURL.comI took the "The Nine Muses" quiz on gURL.com
My muse is...
Clio

Clio is the patron goddess of history. Her name means "The Proclaimer" and her symbols are a scroll and a pile of books. Read more...

I like the way she is brandishing that pencil - rather as if it is a weapon of self-defence!

I got Clio as well!

She seems popular - although not a given, as [livejournal.com profile] handrejka got Calliope.

I got Calliope too.

Everyone seems to be getting Clio or Calliope - I haven't seen a Terpsichore or Erato anywhere.

I got Erato, but I don't understand why.

You have a hankering to write romantic poetry?

I don't think so, and the world should be glad. Vogon poetry would be nothing compared to it.

I love a bad pun! (I thought your pun was darling.)

Did you know Austin, Texas hold a sort of world punning championships in May? Amazing what I learn from BBC Radio 4 (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/factual/wordofmouth.shtml2) - there is a small clip of punsters at work on that page.

The link had already dissolved by the time I got there. I do love Texas. I have two darling nieces and a some sweet cousins who live there. They say everything is bigger in Texas, and the populace tries to live up to the ideal. I knew they had the Biggest Liar contests there. I'm not surprised they have a World Punning Championship, too. (Plus the most wonderful barbeque!)

If I didn't live in Kansas, I would love to live in Austin. They rarely have snow!

I haven't seen anyone getting her before - congratulations on being different! She is rather sad looking, well I suppose she would be...

Getting her for a muse was a bit of a surprise...but given my current frame of mind, it shouldn't have been.

I know it's a silly thing to say - but it's a pity that Perrone's memorial hadn't been whilst you were already in New York.

Are you going to be able to go again so soon after the last trip?

Perhaps, if not, you could record something - perhaps a sort of slide show with your words, that they could include in the service - or if they couldn't include that sort of thing, then maybe write something for the order-of-service booklet?

I haven't yet decided whether I will attend the service in person, or whether I will write something for someone else to read to the congregation -- that slideshow idea of yours is a good one, too...I don't know.

I spoke to Peronne's father on the phone earlier; he and his wife really aren't coping very well. I feel so very bad for them; in all the time I've known them, they've shown me nothing but kindness, and it pains me that there's nothing I can say or do to really help them through this.
