1. A warm and weather proof house so that listening to the wind blow is a pleasure, not a cause for worry.

2. I am not out on the Irish Sea in a boat tonight.

3. Scented tea-lights.

4. Willow the doglet has settled well at my mother's house.

5. I have made 6 of my Christmas cards. Of course having a lot more done would be even better - but I reckon 3 a night for a week or two will do it!

6. Not only washing, but accidentally tumble-drying, my purple, velvet, dry-clean-only, skirt from Monsoon has done it no harm.

7. My husband seems to still be improving, health-wise, and is more like himself.

8. My daughter does not appear to be home-sick.

Yay! All extremely good reasons! I'm just thankful today that I can actually get online with ntl being incredibly flaky all day today - it's a miracle if I can comment at all!! I loved the little doggy - so cute and just right for someone elderly.

Velvet can ALWAYS be washed an tumble dried IMO - it's a cheat to say it can't - I've never had any problems with anything I have.

Good news about your husband too!

Ah - now let's hope this will go through to you... *crosses fingers*

I caught it!

I machine washed the velvet skirt on purpose - but I would usually have hung it to dry in case the heat of the tumbler shrunk it - but it pulled back into shape OK.

It is a good exercise now and again - I am very lucky, and it is good to remind myself sometimes.

Those garment care labels have got to be part of a racket between clothing manufacturers and dry cleaning firms.

I'm not sure the tumble drying was actually GOOD for it, but I almost always wash things labelled dry-clean only.

I once saw someone from Principles or similar saying that they bung the dry-clean labels on almost everything so that if people wash them badly, and ruin them, they can point out that 'The label says dry-clean only, and so you should not have washed it.' Which is a much shorter conversation than 'The label says wash at 40, and this looks as if it has been in the boil wash', which leads to long discussions along the lines of 'Oh no I didn't!' 'Oh yes you did!'

I forgot to add to the list that another reason to be grateful is that I have chapter 3 of 'Access All Areas' written, beta'd and ready to post tomorrow - things are going well in it - well writing wise - characterwise there is a sense of two trains on converging lines....

Sometimes you just need to stop and think about the good things in your life.

I'm glad S2C is improving healthwise, and that the laundry mistake was not a disaster. I was lucky today - did a load of whites and when I took them out of the machine to sort the things that could be tumble dried I found a dark green sock that hadn't ever been wased before. FYI Next socks are very colour fast. Phew.

It's got very windy here (and I think I heard some rain as well) so I'm glad to be inside with my pretty tea lights and candles too.

It is a good exercise, I think. Washing the skirt was a calculated risk - not noticing that I had left the machine on to auto-tumble after washing was not!

I am very impressed with a dark green sock which is that colour-fast, must remember.

It's always nice to read good things in a post, so many people have only sad things to post about these days.

A very nice list. I should make one, as I've much to be grateful for, also.

Things to be grateful for?

1.) A fresh crockpot full of hot soup on a cold, blustery day.

2.) A warm fleece sweater on a cold, blustery day.

3.) A fresh cup of coffee on a cold, blustery day.

4.) A good fan fiction to read on a cold, blustery day.

5.) Someone to remind you of all the things to be grateful for on a cold, blustery day.

Thank you. My friend [livejournal.com profile] beckyzoole writes such a list regularly, and I think it is a very good idea to remember sometimes how fortunate I am.

Those are all Very Good Things which I would also value!

And - Someone to remind you of all the things to be grateful for on a cold, blustery day.

Thank you so much.

Our roof has a distinct dip in it - it has had as long as we've lived here, and looks as if we ought to lose slates off it regularly, but the wonderful thing is that it remains watertight.

Perhaps you should ask Santa to throw a tarpauline over yours whilst he's up there on Christmas Eve!

The way my luck goes with roofs, he'll put both sleigh runners and a dozen hooves right through it!

I enjoyed your list, ranging as it does from small to large things to be grateful for. Creating such a list is a wise and worthwhile enterprise.

It must be quite gratifying that D-d is adjusting so well to college life. And, it is better than good that S2C is feeling better.
