curiouswombat: (Ouch!)

Short entry for two reasons -
(1) yesterday I sliced through my thumb with one of my lovely sharp new kitchen knives whilst cutting onions to make chilli. Daughter dear fortunately arrived home not long after and stuck it together and bandaged it up for me. Then cleaned all the blood up and finished the cooking! The thumb is still bandaged, which is slowing my typing a bit.

(2) Later yesterday my laptop died without warning - just let out a small sigh and went black. S2C thinks it might just be a power-pack problem, but it has to wait until tomorrow for the engineer to be at work at the local computer shop to find out. So I can only access LJ via S2C's computer whilst he isn't using it. I have trouble using his keyboard and mouse - it is a very right-handed set-up, and I'm left-handed. I haven't yet worked out how to get at my e-mails, so forgive me if I haven't replied to something.

Ouch! I hope your thumb is better soon. Been there and done that - and it hurts.

And your laptop problem sounds exactly like a power pack failure as s2c says, so here's hoping it's easily fixed.

I'm hoping the two of you are right, because I'm not good at backing up my picture files.

ouch! Must remember to wear glasses when cutting things. (That was the first sign that The Spouse needed glasses: he cut his fingers trying to slice a tomato.)

*hugs you and fixes you hot tea and a sandwich.*

Eh, the little disasters can really get you down, can't they. I hope the powerpack is all right.

At least you know how to care for your finger so it doesn't get infected. I always worry about hand wounds. (Although not as much as my daughter used to creat drama over paper cuts!)

It's not only one but many isn't it?
I once sliced my thumb open. Was not a nice affair. but the funny thing was that I wasn't really aware what was going on 'til a few hours later. And that's when the pain kicked in!

Sorry to hear about the thumb. I have a tendency to slice tomatoes, meat and other foodstuff while holding them in the palm of my hand (a food preparation technique I learned from my mother ---- she always was a little loony), so I sympathize. Also sorry about the laptop. I had 2 that did that to me, and it was not fun. They are virtually unfixable.

I have a scar on my other one from slicing onions as a child - taken me a while to get the matching one!

It's not so much not being able to see as not looking - it's the sort of task you do on auto-pilot!
