Quick request for help, American friends, for a story I am writing. Is it likely that a young American girl, born mid nineteen eighties with a middle-class up bringing, would have read/been read, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe; or is a very British book?
We read it to D-d as a small child, and there was the BBC series in the late eighties, but would a Californian counterpart (like Dawn in Buffy the Vampire Slayer) have come across it either on paper or TV/movies before the 2005 film?
ETA - Thanks to everyone - isn't LJ wonderful? Ask almost anything and someone will take the time to give you the answer. I now know that it will be fine for her to think of Narnia in a particular circumstance - thanks again!
