365 Project, Week 48.
31 Jan 2010 05:14 pmHere is the week in pictures. It's been a good week - although some of the good things were not things that photographed well! For example; spending over an hour helping work out a system that will allow a very disabled young man use the toilet was very satisfying, but not exactly something to use as photo of the day...
Things that did allow for photography included ( cat, shiny things, and something everyday that is well over 100 years old )
Daughter-dear rang home about 2 o'clock to say that she had reached half way on her walk - her feet are holding up, but her thighs are beginning to ache - I think it will be about 7 or 8 tonight by the time she'll finish - if she makes it. I am impressed that she's done over 12 miles already.
Thank you to LJ friends who gave to encourage her - and how wonderful is this? She asked me if it could be mentioned at church last Sunday - and for anyone who wanted to donate to simply pass the money to me - our wonderful congregation have, over the two weeks, given my £205! D-d is trying so hard to justify their belief in her - but I know they will all be as impressed as me even if 12.5 miles is as far as she got.
I reckon she must have been able to keep going after her lunch break, though, or she'd probably have rung to say she'd given up. I'll let you know how she does.
ETA - D-d completed the walk at about 9.15pm - they had forgotten to add the mileage from the university to the path and so actually walked over 27 miles! It took her 12 hours, but with a break of almost an hour and a half at the half way mark where they stopped and had lunch. 26 of them set off, and 'almost everyone' finished. The last few hours were done in the dark with a few torches!
I am inordinately proud of her, as she has never done anything like this before, and she has raised at least £300 herself - as a group they should, hopefully, reach their £3,000 target.
Her feet are fine - many thanks to
zanthinegirl for the sock info. Her thighs and her knees hurt, and she is on her way home for a hot bath.
