Serious Proud Parent Squeeing!
2 Jul 2009 04:56 pmOkay - I am able to join in the family squee now! Those of you who are friends of
speakr2customrs will have seen this news already -
Daughter-dear got a First!!
For non-Brits, who might not have the same system for your degrees - this means she has her BA with the highest level of honours it is possible to achieve!
As S2C says - we can haz clever daughter.
Slightly more bitter-sweet for her boyfriend who discovered that he just missed a first by a very small amount - but then an upper second, a 2.1, is a damned good degree so he was only a little disappointed. But who was also rung, just after he go his results, to be told that he came 3rd in a competitive interview... for two places. So D-d is off to Law in September, but B;tbf is still not sure what is happening to him.
The day was made even more wonderful by having early lunch at Betty's with the beautiful, delightful and talented
rachel2205. Now we have finally met on one of my York trips we must try to do it again!
ETA - speaking of Rachel - she suggests that it might explain just how squeeful the news is by adding the following -
"Oh, it might also be useful to your US friends to know that a First is like graduating magna cum laude or summa cum laude, and a 2i is cum laude."
