Cronk Ruagh Hospital.

I’ve been watching ‘So You Think You Can Nurse?’ on Channel 5, and thinking back to my own first nursing experiences. At first I thought of being fitted for my student nurse’s uniform and going to my first ward, but then it occurred to me that this would be starting well past the beginning. My first experience of nursing was a few years before that – as a Saint John’s Ambulance Brigade cadet I used to spend my Sundays helping in what was then the local geriatric hospital. A little hospital, previously a TB sanatorium, outside town with views across farmland, known as the Cronk Ruagh (reddish hill) Hospital.
