12 Nov 2006 04:57 pmI am procrastinating, wombling around doing very little, and so far doing none of the things I was going to spend my afternoon doing, like my knitting, starting some Christmas card making, or getting on with Chapter 3 of 'Ten Years After 2 - Access All Areas'.
However, during my procrastinating I have been watching a programme on More4 by Ian Hislop, looking at the stories behind some of the War Memorials in the UK - such as the 35 girls and women killed in an explosion in a munitions factory in 1917, whose memorial was only unveiled last year because at the time the whereabouts of the factory was a miltary secret, and so no mention was made of the event, and when the war was over memorials were put up to the men, but no-one thought about such women who had been 'safely at home'.
It made me wonder what I had written in my journal last Armistice Day, and I went to look. I discovered that actually the post about the war service of some of my family was actually made on UK Veterans Day, in June - last November 11th I was discussing the weather, and a Fair at Church.....and the fact that I had a story outline for Ten Years After 2. Meep! So it has taken me almost a year from 'a story outline' to posting Chapter One last Sunday!
I promise that I will post Chapter 2 tomorrow - Sunday doesn't seem a good day, unless everyone really has got fed up with the idea, and didn't bother reading it, which I realise is a distinct possibility after all this time. However, I am now going to stop writing this entry, stop watching TV, forget the knitting and the cards, and get on with Chapter 3!
