7 Oct 2006 09:01 pmMy Premier Travel Inn has wi-fi! It is quite expensive, so I don't think I'll get through my Friends List in the time available, and I will leave posting pics until I get home.
But at least I can update - Yay for hotel rooms with wi-fi!
The sea was rough on the way, but not very rough - force 6-7ish for those of you who understand the Beaufort Scale, and as my mother had said the night before, the wind was turning to be behind the boat, so we made good time, and were off the boat by 12.20. I navigated my way out of Heysham-Morecambe-Lancaster with no problems, and followed the planned route using the A roads easily. We met very slow moving traffic in a few places, and had a lunch break for about 3/4 hour as well, so it took longer than I expected, but we were in the hotel by about 3.45pm.
We popped into town for a while, and I treated Kat to dinner in the most wonderfully decorative place - an Italian restaurant in the Old Assembly Rooms - and the decor is still as it would have been when Jane Austen was writing about Assembly Rooms - marble pillars and chandeliers!
This morning I found the university, and the right college with no problems - quite impressed myself.
D-d's first impression was - 'Where am I going to put everything?' When we got all the boxes in it looked even more impossible - but then things started to fit, and look better - and by 3 hours things were all looking fine. The view out of her window is like a Constable painting!
I took her and Holly, from the room next door, to Tesco's, then took them back, let them out of the car, said 'Bye' and left them to it.
However, as I am here for another couple of days, I intend to see her, at least briefly, before heading for home again.
So - we made it, she is busy making new friends even as I type, I expect, and I have two days to do some Christmas shopping in York - all the news is good!
