Shoe boxes, and disasters.
9 Oct 2005 07:34 pmThere is a rhythm to life - everyone has certain things that are milestones in the year - things that mark the passage of time. Birthdays are the most obvious, and anniversaries and religious festivals.
For my daughter and I one of the time-markers of summer passing into autumn, and autumn looking towards Christmas is the time of the shoe-boxes. Today we have just been checking to see that we are nearly ready for Shoe-box Sunday, next week - which marks the end of shoe-box season.
Now many of you might know what I am talking about - many of you may not. If you want to know more about our shoe-boxes - including why they are linked to my wedding day, look under the cut.

And once these gifts are on their way, I must start thinking about family presents - last year we gave my sister's family four goats in Bolivia - I'm thinking maybe this year they might like a latrine in Nicaragua or a fishing net in Mali! D-d fancies giving one of her friends a can of worms. If you want to know more look on

Oh, and I am proud that my chosen charity that I give to regularly is Christian Aid - they've already sent £50,000 to Pakistan - before it became obvious how big the damage was, so they'll probably be sending more soon - but well done CA for being quick off the start!!
