Daughter-dear and I went to Peel after Church, S2C had been at work, and was asleep.

Peel is a very small fishing town on the other side of the Island from where we live, it is possibly know to you as Purt-ny-Hinshey, as featured in [livejournal.com profile] speakr2customrs 'The Cloak of Mist', Peel is the name the English gave it. Peel was having a Viking festival - reasonably enough, because it was the Viking capital of the Island, and has a castle on the same site as the original Viking one, with some odd Viking bits still.

We took a picnic, because we knew that if we left it until after lunch parking in Peel would be almost impossible. So we ate Chicken Salad wraps and cereal and nut bars on the grass at the back of the castle, and watched the seals - didn't see any Basking Sharks today though.

The Viking re-enactment groups were very good, and had re-enacters from all over the UK as well as local people - there were four long-ships landing warriors on the beach, and the battle had somewhere around eighty warriors in it.

Haven't down-loaded the pictures yet, and D-d's will probably be better, but I will post some pictures later this week.

Here is the next chapter of Ten Years After )
