5 Feb 2005 09:49 pmI meant to put up a short post a few days ago when my first miniature daffodil flowered, but I didn't get around to it - too busy ranting! We now have about a dozen of them fully opened in the pots in the yard, and lots more in bud. No sign of the miniature irises I thought were in some of the pots, but as my Mum has a lot of those, perhaps I'd just misremembered, and was visualising hers!
This morning really felt like spring out in the yard, what with the little daffs, a few tulips coming up nicely, and the clematis sprouting new leaves. The bulbs I got for my birthday have almost all sprouted (Help Julia - I can't remember what they are, and I remember you and I discussing them on LJ, but after an hour of looking I still can't see the conversation on either mine or yours, and fear I am going mad!!).
I was pottering around in my jeans and long-sleeved T shirt, not feeling cold at all, and told S2C that he must have thin blood or something when he complained that I'd left the door open for a couple of minutes. Then Katherine and I set off to go to my Mum's place, and the 'Snow' warning sign was on for the mountain road - we laughed, and said they must have put the wrong one on - maybe they meant to put 'Fog' we thought. Until the car thermometer dropped down to 2C, and we came across two vehicles that had slid in what was now slush! So not actually quite spring here yet!
