Re My Last Post.

Thanks to those who commented on my last post pointing out that LJ are sneaking in corporate sponsorship. I'm sorry that I didn't reply to the comments, but there didn't seem to be a lot to say, and I've been busy in RL as well.

However I have noticed a number of my friends amongst the 3,000+ comments to the announcement - which was put out in one of the more obscue LJ communities, not LJ News to which we all subscribe - I guess they didn't really want us to know!

LJ founder Brad Fitz then posted a 'damage limitation' post which basically said he was sorry we hadn't been given the news in a better way - not that he was sorry that they were even contemplating letting companies pay them lots of money to be able to wander all over LJ you notice.

I was just looking at some of the comments, and have found a link to a community who are planning a day of protest - [livejournal.com profile] november52006 - a day where we just post a short post saying that we are not here for the day - and then go and do something else - the founder, like me, has a Greatest Journal as well, and says they will be there!

I think I might well join in. I thought you might like to know about it too!

What the heck -- I usually spend all of November wishing I was somewhere else, anyway.

Absolutely. If I was really efficient I would spend that day doing housework, and making cards etc - it is more likely that I will go and play with my Greatest Journal and try to personalise it a bit more!

I know the feeling of doing what you want rather than what you should ... although I firmly believe that sometimes want needs to come first, just to keep us sane. However, I've noticed the free time I used to use for fiction writing is now mostly going into LJ, and that's an issue I have to address if I ever want to get published.

It's not something I look forward to addressing, because I love doing both -- the main difference being writing is a lonely business.

Can't really say that it's my pleasure, but I am glad to pass it on.

And now - a petition -

Worth a try, although it is an easy form of protest for other people to sabotage as we found out the hard way with Nipplegate 06's 'step apart from 6 apart' on July 6th where usage figures actually went up.

To be honest I think some of the increase in useage was a lot of people going 'What's happened to X, her name's got the dreaded line through it!' - more people seemed to notice that than saw people's posts saying what they were doing :~) I noticed five or six entries asking about you alone - I didn't know what had happened to you either, as it was about then that I friended you.

But I'm sure it is easily sabotaged. Having to try to sabotage something does show that it's been noticed.

It did give me a tiny, tiny, pleasure to see that it was the same person posting the 'wow - look how wonderful we are being to you' post and then getting publically 'distanced from' that was the member of the nipple police who had a nude default icon herself...and I see her default now wears a T-shirt - the number of comments must have actually hit home!

I see her default now wears a T-shirt - the number of comments must have actually hit home! I think they did, but that is the only noticeable change unfortunately, and in rather the wrong direction to. Sighs!

I think this one might go better but I am still finding a lot of people who had not heard about the 'wonderful new idea' at all let alone the protest. Is there any buzz roudnt he paid users forum or anything? I cannot get in there these days as I won't give the Nipple Nazis my cash.
