S2C's birthday present finally arrived!

Remember back on October 4th I said that D-d's birthday gift to her Dad had not arrived for his birthday although she had ordered it about 8 days before?

Well when it hadn't arrived by almost a week later she contacted the supplier in York who then e-mailed her an apology; their carrier had taken it as usually and then, 7 days later, returned it as they didn't deliver to 'the highlands and islands'.

So they then sent it by Parcel2Go, and gave her the tracking number. On 17th of October she asked me had it arrived, as the tracking info showed it being delivered... to an address in York. But not the supplier's address. At this stage, S2C knew the supplier was York Armouries and so that it was likely to be a replica weapon - and decided it was probably a boomerang!

Finally, on Wednesday, which was October 23rd of course, it was delivered about 4.30pm. So it took about 26 or 27 days to travel the 120 or so miles between York and our house.

And what was it?

This is really not a very flattering picture of S2C as he was very tired when I took it to send to D-d to show her it was fine -

One man and his axe

Yes - it is a full size replica of Gimli's Axe!

He is rather pleased with it. I think we will have to work out where we can wall mount it.

D-d said that, had she told him in advance what it was, he could have rug op the carriers and misquoted "You have my axe!"

Your entire family is brilliant! Please pardon my butting in, but I just had to comment on this reply, it made me laugh. And yay to the S2C's 'Galadriel/Gimli' OTP! *g*

But in all you like! We do all have a very similar sense of humour - there can be some very silly conversations at times.

As for Gimli/Galadriel - S2C occasionally dabbles in LotR fics and, on this occasion (http://efiction.esteliel.de/viewstory.php?sid=380), he drabbled...

Oh my, I'm glad I wasn't drinking anything while I read that, I'd have shorted out my netbook for certain. As I said, definitely brilliant! *g*

ETA: Wait a minute, your husband is Speaker to Customers? I love his writing as much as I do yours! You truly are a talented family.

He is indeed - that is what the S2C is an acronym for, as writing out the whole thing is a bit long winded.

It would be tedious at that. Also, I'd have known this if I had read your profile before now, but I admit that I jumped in for your writing to begin with and found you an interesting person whose non-story related posts I also enjoy. I admit to having a habit of doing so and have actually met a few real life friends that way. :)

I often don't read people's profiles when I first bump into them, either!
