Niarbyl.
On Monday morning D-d had a 9.15am dental appointment which, due to the vagaries of the NHS dental system, required a trip to Peel - about 10 miles from home. I offered to give her a lift in case she was hung-over after Sunday night out with friends, and because she wasn't sure of the route home as the roads would be closed for racing.
So - after her dental appointment we took ourselves a little way down the west coast of the island to have morning coffee at Niarbyl - just for the pleasure of it.
Under the cut are some photos -
These are taken from the road a little above our destination -

As you can see D-d's hair is growing quite long - and left to curl naturally at the moment.
You can see a small white building near the coast in the first picture - that is the cafe at Niarbyl - here it is -

After morning coffee we walked a little outside to just enjoy the sunshine and the view.

You can see why it is a favourite spot.
Then we made our way back to Douglas and, only a couple of months late, we bought her birthday present from me - a desk chair; finally, at the local office suppliers, we found one that she liked!
We lunched in the small, friendly, almost vegetarian cafe which is situated in the Douglas Railway Station building - very, very, yummy food, and extremely good value.
The rest of the day was spent in helping at church with the TT teas - D-d had made some wonderful lemon and cherry frangipan - I must get the recipe from her. As usual, I had made carrot cake...
Just for my own record, really, so far this year I have made 80 servings of carrot cake, 16 of chocolate chip flapjack, 16 of chocolate fudge cake, 12 of fruit cake. D-d has done 12 pieces of frangipan and 15 hunks or rocky road. So, between us we have made 151 portions of cake. (This is probably less than 10% of the total number of pieces sold in church over the TT festival!)
Today is damp, cool, and racing is being delayed and delayed - I am going down to church to do a 'late shift' at the snack bar as it is going to be open for three or four hours later than originally planned.
