Bouquet!

Just to say thank you to the people who have given me virtual sunflowers so that I now have a virtual bouquet!

The best sort, really, as I go to collect D-d from the local airport at lunchtime and she's allergic to lots of flower pollens.

Yes - after circumnavigating the globe she gets home today. I'm expecting her to be ready to collapse in a heap - but have the champagne ready to celebrate that First Class Honours LLB (Bachelor of Law) in case she is up to opening it.

The cheerful sunflowers are especially good today as it is gloomy and damp outdoors - she might find it a bit chilly after Thailand.

So glad she'll be home at last! I'm sure she'll love the bubbly even if she has to take a nap first. :)

She is remarkably chipper - she got a few hours sleep on the flight last night - and is looking forward to the bubbly!

I wish you a great family reunion and a great dinner/celebration. :)))

She has chosen tonight's dinner - I'm just making roast pork with gravy and vegetables, followed by cupcakes and coffee. She's just been decorating cupcakes!

Yeah for arriving safely home!

And I'll bet she's got some stories now!

[identity profile] curiouswombat.livejournal.com 2011-08-24 04:07 pm (UTC)(link)
She's just had us in hoots of laughter explaining how she got to see the beach that featured in the film of the same name - the boatman took them to an island, waved at the shore and a rickety wooden stair and they realised the idea was that they swam ashore, climbed the stair, walked (barefoot as they'd just been swimming...) along a path through the jungle, and out onto the beach! Supposed to give you a thrill to see it in front of you that way. But, of course, no towel to lie on, no camera... she thought, on the whole, it would have been better if he'd just gone in and let them be less thrilled as they approached from the front.

So happy that D-d is back home again and the tales she'll have to tell will keep cropping up over the next few months/years. It's fantastic that she had that opportunity to do this traveling and see these amazing places and people. What a wonderful gift.

I think she will keep us amused with stories for a long time - she's already had me laughing through much of dinner.

Yay! That is worth a glass or two of champagne for sure!

[identity profile] curiouswombat.livejournal.com 2011-08-24 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
And very nice it was, too - except it has made me feel very sleepy.

I'm so glad she is home safe and sound and full of stories!

She is certainly full of stories - I think she will keep us entertained for a good long time. She looks well, too - she has put a few pounds of weight on and looks better for it - it will be a bit of a job now to persuade her not to try and lose it again.

By the way, your location link takes me to a local hotel! I'm fairly certain you aren't in my small burg, but if you are, let me know!

Whereas, weirdly, I get a builder in a small town in South Australia! I'm not there, either...

I can well imagine how happy you are to have D-d back safe and sound.

I was going to say I was sure she would arrive home ready to celebrate. I'm glad to see I was right. The dinner sounds fabulous. I'm sure you are having a great time enjoying it, the champagne and her tales of wonder.

She's had a brilliant time - but it was so funny when we go home and within half an hour of getting home she was in the kitchen where she said "Oh! You've been baking. Can I decorate them?" and was finishing off cupcakes.

They went very well with champagne, too!

See, even though she had a great time she still missed home and is happy to be back. *g*

I see that she's home by now, so let the celebration (and the catching-up on sleep) commence!

We had our roast dinner, the cupcakes and the champagne and then the sleepiness hit her - she went to bed about 12 hours ago and I can just hear slight sounds of movement from her bedroom, just above me, now.
