To Whom It May Concern re; Weather.

Severe Storm Force 11 once every 2 or 3 years can be quite exciting. But for the 3rd...4th...5th time in one winter? It is getting boring now.

Yes - we have force 11 again, gusts of 80mph+, things blowing around in the garden, in the street, and so on. Boat and flights cancelled, trees down, roads flooded...

Hard to remember that beautiful day on Monday, now.

I saw that the Isle of Man was going to get hit, Wombat.
Been emailing my uncle in North Wales. At 3.00 he said it was getting 'really hairy' and then they started reporting gusts of 106 miles an hour just down the coast. He moved there 19 years ago and has never experienced anything like it. He lost power for an hour, and said slates had come off the roof, and he and my aunt were just having a glass of whiskey, as it is just easing now, so they had about four hours of it. No-one will be able to assess the full damage until it gets light. But it sounds as if it will be awful.

I hope it passes you quickly. Keep safe!

Oh your poor aunt and uncle - glad it is easing for them. I think we are at the peak now - the windows are rattling, and there are things blowing around outside. No idea what wind speeds we have - they predicted 80, but it wouldn't surprise me if there are bigger gusts occasionally - 106 sound horrific. But, at least at the moment, no power or slate problems - I have my torches at the ready, though, and plenty of candles!
