It's not Quite all Storms...

I took this picture up near Mum's, in the north of the island, yesterday, about 4pm.

It was the first fairly still evening for about a week.

Sunset, Burma Rd. January 2014.

Today we have only 30mph winds, gusting to 50, and the sea has stayed on the right side of the sea walls. Joy of joys, for tomorrow The Isle of Man Met Office has issued a red warning with more flooding predicted around mid afternoon because of another high tide (2.56pm), a significant storm surge and severe gale force winds with gusts of up to 65 miles per hour.

What fun...

BTW (and completely OT); the Small People and I were watching James May's Toy Stories programme earlier - the episode where they build a Meccano motorbike and drive it round the TT course on the IoM, I don't know if you've seen it?

Anyway, near the end of the programme when they are finally coasting towards the grandstand and the finish line, I could almost swear I caught a glimpse of you and a redhead who I thought might have been D-d, waving madly as they passed! Is that remotely possible?

Yes I watched it when it was on the other day - it was a gloriously silly project, wasn't it? But no, we weren't there at the end - although I was actually about 50 yards away when he finished, at church helping with the teas.

Oh well, it was only the briefest glimpse. It was both silly and quite inspiring I thought - the depth of engineering ingenuity that went into powering it, in particular, was amazing. First Small Person was quite impressed - had it been before Christmas rather than after, perhaps Meccano might have made it on to his wish list!
