Twelve MonthReview Thing
I first saw this, and started to do it, quite a few years ago now.
It is the review of the year done by posting the first sentence, or paragraph, of the first post of each month.
I have put it here
January; The Middle Earth Fanfic Awards (MEFAs) results are out. These are the Oscars of the Tolkien Fandom - chosen by peer review - and so I am very, very proud of my results!
February; The next chapter of the tale of The Elves and The Key in The West... Tindómë is still avoiding her mother-in-law, as is someone else, and there are still questions about the proper recognition of rank.
March; Where did that week go? Well I did get the next chapter of Immigrants finished, just waiting for my beta to finish fine-tooth combing it for me; and I have, finally, got the results for the prescriber's exam I sat in mid January - I passed, thank goodness!
April; Our nice weather continues - today has been clear and sunny - but not as warm as earlier in the week. Niece number 2 is 21 tomorrow - and we had a lovely family lunch today to celebrate, at a hotel on the seafront in Douglas.
May; This is just a post to show the contrasts we can get in weather, here in the Irish Sea. I took a few pictures when I visited a patient in Derbyhaven last week - in a storm, and a few today, about 4 or 5 miles away at Port Erin, on a calm day.
June; This is a set of drabbles written for Tolkien Weekly.
July; My icon wombat is worn out - so am I. I have been busy for two evenings trying to put together a 'photo-album' online, to be printed as a gift to a family who are leaving church to move to Scotland. I tried it via Photobucket last night, as a lot of the pictures were there - I took about 3 hours and then discovered that it would be printed in the USA and the postage would cost $40.00! So I abandoned that and started again on Snapfish this evening.
August; I've been a bit missing in action this week... I've been watching the Olympics almost every minute that I've not been at work!
September; I've been a bit missing in action for the past few days - mainly because I've been glued to the TV most evenings watching the Paralympics.
October; At the beginning of 2011 there was something of a scandal on the small island - a GP was summarily removed from a practice by his partners with no notice, and no explanation except to reassure everyone that it had nothing to do with his medical skills.
November; Such a shame that so many of my friends seem to have got caught up in the latest round of 'OMG - we're all going to die unless we go to Dreamwidth'; I will miss you.
December; I know a lot of my friends are doing the December Meme - which I think of as the Decememe because it amuses me.
Hmm - More of it about writing than I expected for the year - and that repetition in August and September amuses me. Interesting too that the MEFAs didn't survive much past that point in January - but the post about that was later in a month. Other interesting things missed this review meme altogether as they didn't happen at the beginning of a month.
Realising that there is more of it about writing than I thought, i have decided to also have a look at the 'what have you written this year?' meme. And the answer seems to be I wrote 45 drabbles, and 45,725 words of other fic in the Returnverse! And a Nativity Play, as well!
