As promised - more Skye sky and scenery!

We drove from Broadford to Kylrhea one day - along a tiny mountain road, all twists, turns and gradients. We stopped near the top of a pass where we could pull in, and looked down the way we were headed - towards the second narrowest sea strait between Skye and mainland Scotland. The narrowest point is where they have built the bridge - but Kylrhea to Glenelg is still a ferry route. Quite possibly one of the world's smallest sea-ferries!

This second picture the view along the strait between Skye and the mainland.

From Kylrhea

As you can tell – the weather was not as sunny that day as it was when I took some of the other pictures – but clouds are interesting too.

Whilst we waited for the tiny ferry I took a few pictures of what I could see around me – and I like these two in particular:

Lobster pots

Driftwood and stones at Kylrhea

And finally the ferry arrived – it is a four-car car-ferry – although my friend tells me that she has been on it when they have squeezed six vehicles on! The ferrymen have a dog that travels backwards and forwards with them all day.

Glenelg Ferry

As we crossed a seal kept an eye on us - but I know from experience with our seals here at home that seals do not photograph well when swimming - all you get is a small dark blob - so I didn't bother!

PS - sorry - forgot to reduce the size on a couple - and I'm too sleepy to do it reliably now - I might adjust them down a bit tomorrow!

Mood:: 'sleepy' sleepy
